Who would be your next choice that is realistic?

I'm on board with Tom Herman.
Even if Chip Kelly was an option, I just don't like him as LSU's coach for some reason. Mullen doesn't excite me at all. Jimbo is by far my favorite since he has proved he can win and recruit. But I wouldn't be disappointed with Herman..

If Jimbo isn't in, Miles isn't gone.

This will not be a coaching search. It will be a move to replace Miles with Jimbo.

Chip Kelly is the worst option.

Chip and honestly Oregon is harder to get constant good athletes and stay competitive. Chip is my #1

Oregon is easy to get good athletes. All the merchandise thrown at them and have you seen their locker room? Kids love the constantly changing uniforms and high flying offense. Just like the fans do but it won't work in the SEC. Please understand football and don't look like bandwagon fans.

You're saying the coach who re-invented how an offense could operate at both the college and NFL level, who went 10-6 twice in the NFC East... you're saying that guy couldn't make something work in the SEC?

Just like Urban Meyer couldn't make something work in the SEC? Just like Gus Malzahn couldn't make it work in the SEC...?

You are probably right but if things fall apart with Jimbo at the last minute, I couldn't see Miles staying.

I also don't see Chip Kelly leaving the NFL unless he is fired and even if he did, I think USC would land him.

Yes I am saying that. The same guy who has ruined an Eagles organization. The players want him out. There is nobody backing him in Philly. He works in the PAC 12 where defense does not exist. He would probably do well in the Big 12. But where he goes defense does not follow. And if you look at Chips past he struggles against teams with a defense. He would not be a good fit in the SEC. People seem to forget when at Oregon a really bad Washington State would post up 30 points in the game. Imagine what SEC schools would do to him.

So who do you see LSU going after in this scenario? Am I the only one that likes Herman even though he has only been a head coach for 1 year.

1. Jimbo
2. Herman
3a. Chip
3b.Smart
5a.Fuentes
5b. Cal's coach

But that is very fluid besides Jimbo.

After Jimbo and Chip(not sure which is 1 and 1A) it would be Herman and Fuente(not sure which is 3 and 3A).

That's an agreeable list but I have zero faith in our powers to pull it off.

I forgot about Dabo. I really wouldn't be disappointed in him. I would even prefer him over Chip. He has done a hell of a job at Clemson.

So, basically what you're saying is Jimbo has to SIGN a contract BEFORE we fire Miles. Not possible. We will fire Miles with the HOPE that Fisher isn't fishing for a better deal at FSU.

So, if (basically, when) we fire Miles it's all a crap shoot. In the past, LSU has always fallen to their 3rd or 4th choice. We probably end up with a middle of the pack hire that doesn't excite anyone. I don't care who it is as long as they are successful and win at least 9 games a year. Oh, wait...he'd be fired too.

If we sacked the winningest coach in LSU history for a somewhat unproven mid-major coach I'd throw up in my mouth...
