Curious readers would like to know.

I'm not being antagonistic. Something isn't connecting here.

Weak leadership, more than anything. Alleva is really, really bad at his job.

Because this is a relatively small state, and the media drives the narrative. They want eyeballs, and TX, FL, etc. have more eyeballs.

Because people in Louisiana are used to that I guess.

I believe in the people there, and I believe they can do better.

I agree with the weak leadership. But it seems like we pull our dick out, surrounded by cash...and people go "nah".

A coach like Herman theoretically should be fellating us over the opportunity if local perception is reality.

High level politics and there is a conspiracy theory to it. A lot of negative stereotypes about La. out there outside of La. We are sandwiched between Texas money and the Bama mafia in Birmingham. The Bama PR machine and the folks in national media connected to the Saban camp promote the anti-LSU agenda for obvious reasons.

The state of Alabama have all sorts of negative stereotypes but with football perception they get a pass because they are Bama. Louisiana gets shiiited on, especially the Bubbas, Boudreauxs and Thibodouxs as far as stereotyping. That is why our enemies prop up O as if he is a good representation of the mental inferiority of LSU and Louisiana. Flame away if you must but you know deep down it is true. It is not our fault, we are victims here. It is the ENEMY!!!!

Saban won't be coaching in 5 years. LSU really is kind of a layup with recruiting to an extent. You're treated like a god if you win.

I don't know, it seems to me it's an attractive position.

Worst part would be dealing with media and fan expectations I suppose.

What's your evidence of this even being true in recent history?

LSU wasn't that great until Saban took over. Saban didn't leave LSU for Miami until after Christmas when all the coaches had deals in place. We hired Miles which essentially worked out with an NC in 2007.

We then kinda butt fumbled firing him last year.

Right now, we have no idea if we're little brother or not yet.

If this is media treatment, news flash, most of the country thinks southern states are fricked up. Don't let it bother you.

Most schools have this issue. With the level of coach a school like LSU wants to hire, they will always be in high demand and usually entrenched in a current job. Let's look at some semi-recent jobs of LSU's level:

Alabama: Turned down by Rich Rod before "settling" on saban late.

Ohio State: Meyer was unemployed at the time, so it made for an easy transition for them. I think he would have taken any major job that was open at that time, so it was a nice coincidence for OSU.

Michigan: Prodigal son Harbaugh on the outs with SF at the time they had an opening. Again, a perfect situation.

USC: Cluster frick after cluster frick since Pete left. To say they settled for Helton would be an understatement, but it appears he is doing well.

Texas: Again, courted many top coaches like Saban before settling on Strong.

LSU could have already had a coach, weeks ago, if an easy hire was the goal. When you go big, expect there to be pain.

I just feel like this is always treated like a sideshow...like them sending up the reporter last night to Alleva.

I don't really care for it. Maybe. Maybe this is more organized than surface appearances but after last year, I'll be skeptical.

I know everyone says this, and I don't necessarily disagree, but they've won 1 NC since 1970. If they're a top 5 job, that's pretty dismal with the resources they tout.

Nice post. Maybe there is the point. Just seems painful. If somebody else proposed giving you a 100% raise, you'd leave your lunch at your desk.

Maybe with these rich types it's not so clear cut, but money talks for me...so maybe I'm not seeing this clearly

Seems like...top 30 job at this point. Wonder if University financial issues are playing a part.

You don't understand. Michigan Texas are all top 5 programs. It's freaking hard to get coaches to leave a school they when they at top schools. What can't you guys understand. It took Michigan to pay 9 million to get their guy. Texas is still looking. Alabama struggled until they got Saban. There is only a select few great coaches out there.
