I get the feeling that Smart is going to hold out for the Alabama or Georgia job. That could take a few years. That strategy is also a major risk, because I'm not sure that Alabama or Georgia would hire him with no head coaching experience.

I've heard that. I know there are bad feelings about how he handled our DC search and how he recruits. But say, hypothetically, he went to Arky or someplace like that and totally killed it, like was winning SEC champs and competing for the MNC. He would have to get a look IMO.

I was speaking totally hypothetically without any specific timeframe. I just think its dumb to say that there is no possible way that Kirby Smart could ever work at Georgia.

Not saying I want him, because I don't.

Smart will be the top candidate for the Alabama job when Saban retires, so if that's the job he wants, there's no need to go anywhere except to something comparable.

He makes a million a year, has elite job stability, is in line to take over a top 5 program at Alabama if he waits several more years, and would probably be taking a pay cut to go to most mid range schools.

He is simply doing what any sane person does. Work hard at the job you have until something better is offered. The DC position at Alabama making 1 mill a year is a better job that most CUSA head coaching gigs.

and you forgot to mention that Saban basically does his job for him. Ever been to a 'Bama practice? I have... it's kinda sad really.... but hey I'd draw a smooth million to let someone else do my job too!
