I think it’s Baker for DC

Didn’t realize that his wife is an LSU grad. I really feel it’s Baker. He is losing 1/2 of his starters at Mizzou and my buddy who is a Mizzou grad told me he would be surprised it’s not Baker. There’s a reason why they gave him an extension. That’s his agent working on gettin him more money going to LSU he feels.

If Baker didn't have Louisiana/LSU ties NO ONE on this board would be pushing for him. He didn't do a bad job at Missouri by any means. But I think Kelly is looking for someone with a bit more bona fides. Baker is just an easy connection for the fans/media to make.

Good chance it’s Baker but I don’t think this would be a reason. Sure you’d like everyone coming back but returning 5-6 starters is a good base from which to reload.

There’s guys on the roster that will vouch for him. He made connections with a lot of them and was a very good LB coach and can coach safeties as well. I think there’s more to it than just “LA ties” but that is indeed a factor in keep coaches around for a while which LSU needs dearly. The instability is hurting.

The obvious choice is rarely the right choice. Could be Baker, but don't be surprised if it's not.

They were 33rd this season and 27th last year in total defense. Still not bad at all. But their total defense was one spot BELOW Tennessee...and I don't see anyone clamoring for Tennessee's DC. Which kind of emphasizes my point. If he didn't have Louisiana/LSU ties no one on here would really be pushing for him.
