I've been for Kiffin getting the OC job, but the more it looked like he wasn't coming, the more I liked Helfrich. Does anyone else like him over Kiffin? I'd still be fine if Kiffin comes, but...

Pretty impressive, especially with quarterbacks

I like him too, though I think it's heavily influenced by the Kiffin drama. I just really don't wanna be screwed by Kiffin and end up settling again. Plus, I don't think Kiffin is good enough to justify putting all of our eggs in that basket. It sure seems like he really wants an HC job, and we are his backup plan. I think we need to be proactive instead of just waiting on one guy who probably won't end up here.

I'd take Helfrich over Kiffin all day

Helfrich is likely to stay a few years before bolting. So if we can't get Canada he would be my second choice.

I would also team Craig up with Helfrich so when he does bolt in a few years we would already have the oc in training.

Unproven and unimpressive history when he is the main guy. He is a good assistant to the OC and HC though based on what we've dug up on him the last week.

There's quite a few threads on Helfrich. Overall, he would likely be a solid hire, but i still have reservations about his in game decision making/play calling. He let Chip call most of the plays, but he set up the playbook and game plan. I think he's a great "overview" coach. His execution is still somewhat a mystery to me. I would worry that with someone like O as HC he may not do as well.

I think he offers a little more stability too.

I'm starting to believe that he was the hire, how Craig could develop into an OC and maybe get into calling plays.

He seems to be up on the latest direction in offense in support of spreading the field. Someone else mentioned him grooming Craig, but I wonder how much Craig could blossom into an OC if he desired. Who knows.

Wonder how both our QB commits' coaches would fare as an OC. I'd rather go with a proven but if a guy has a great system and creative I'd be open to listening. If that was the case then Zachary's coach would need a look. Plus they have local ties for recruiting. Don't flame me too much for thinking outside the box.
