Create perceived interest for his buddy with the LSU OC opening giving him some headlines and leverage for potential HC openings (but has no real intention of bringing him in)

I'd have a lot more confidence in Orgeron if he proved he was capable of doing a complete search and hiring a great candidate rather than hiring from within his very close circle.

Canada...
I just don't trust that O will be able to keep kiffin disciplined (like Saban)
They are friends. O worked under Kiffin and now the roles would be reversed.
It really wouldn't be costing O anything to have the public perception that Kiffin is the top man for the OC job building buzz for him at one of the next tier HC positions. It also covers O and Alleva on their actual targets.

This is my concern. I hope he's not just resorting to old coaching buddies, and he's actually searching for the best candidates.

Yeah why would LSU, with its proud recent history of offense, want the OC from Alabama who will likely have 2 NCs in 3 years. Heaven forbid.

I wouldn't be so quick to give Kiffin that much credit, tbh. Saban and that OL and DL is what makes Kiffin look elite.
