totally unenforceable, unverifiable, self-serving projections regarding who he'll be able to hire as assistants?

When he hired O, Alleva was quoted as saying something to the effect that O's list of assistants was phenomenal. I - and many others here - immediately pointed out that it was also fictional. There was no way to guarantee that any of the individuals named in the magic binder ever arrived at LSU. There was no way to accurately predict how things would unfold. Now, lo and behold, the reported top choice for OC, Os old crony Kiffin, has taken the FAU job and won't ever don purple and gold.

We may still end up with a quality OC, but Kiffin's defection illustrates the incredible folly of Alleva's hiring paradigm. How credulous and naive can you be? This is why you hire a great head coach, not a theoretical wishlist of assistants. So dumb.

It was clearly based on the binder

But: Solid melt.

We hired a shrimp boat captain to lead our $100 million dollar company, despite him failing fantastically the last time he had this job.

We deserve to fail.

You can add recruits to that concept as well. Orgeron was hired on the promise of all the coaches and kids he would bring. Yet he can't actually promise any of that, only hope it all works out. Now, virtually none of it is working out and you're left with an empty shell as a coach spouting off every cliche he learned from Pete Carroll 15 years ago.

It's done. Time to support the existing LSU coach. His success is LSUs success.

No.

If he wins 8-9 games a year on talent advantage and Dave Aranda's shoulders, we will be stuck with him for longer. He will NEVER be elite or win elite amounts of games or championships.

He doesn't have it in him.

Yup

My fear all alone

Win enough to get by

I'm actually worried the talent level may drop actually.. which is what we tend to win on any ways

Dude is already a failure. Losing recruits and can't even get his buddies to come coach under him. I'm prepared for an even worse program under O than it was under Miles last years here.

Literally the only positive since he was hired is Aranda deciding to stay. Everything else has been nothing but negative news. This program is shite compared to what it use to be. We're a joke and nothing more than a middle of the road SEC team. Not going to change anytime soon. Never trusted Alleva to make the right hire and I'm not surprised he went with what he did. Guy should've been fired by LSU years ago with his consistent stream of failure HC hires in the AD.
