They have the money, resources, tradition, and talent in state to go after any coach in the country besides Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh. And we didn't interview anybody but O? Ridiculous

LSU fans hate on ESPN, but every talking head I heard talk about the job said it was a Top 5 job. Bama boy Greg McElroy even said it's arguably the top job in the country. I think it was during the Arky game, Luginbill was saying that only a handful of coaches wouldn't leave their current job for LSU: Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer, Peterson and I think that's it. Then Alleva settled for O. I actually had someone tell me that O was a good hire because "he's a good recruiter and he has SEC HC experience." I laughed my arse off in his face.

That is my biggest issue. There was no reason not to wait and conduct interviews starting this weekend and proceeding until someone was selected. In that scenario, guess who isn't interviewing for the Houston job this weekend? There was no reason to rush a hire of O unless you were trying to cover up the fact that you didn't do jack shite for two months other than get jerked around by a coach that was never coming to Lsu.

No if we had hired Herman I would have been satisfied you moron. He was the hottest young coach on the market. But the fact that LSU didn't anticipate Herman's interest in Texas and give him the $6 that he wanted, makes me lose all confidence in the decision to get a OC. Even after LSU lost Herman, why make a rush hire to appoint O unless they were trying to cover their arse and the lack of work they've been doing for 2 months gauging coaches interest.

Alleva literally did nothing to protect LSU once the "handshake" agreement was in place.

You think LSU had a shot at Herman after Texas fired strong? Wow you really are stupid.

Name your other candidates you wanted interviewed

Name your other candidates you wanted interviewed
----------------------------------------------------

I wanted the following coaches to get an interview:

Mike MacIntyre
Kyle Whittingham
Mike Gundy
Chad Morris
Larry Fedora
Justin Fuente
Ed Orgeron

THEN after sitting down with them and getting to know who they are in person, make a decision. No one was rushing out to steal Ed Orgeron out from under us, yet we acted like that was what was happening.

Yea LSU had a shot if they would've opened the damn checkbook instead of took the Black Friday deal on Orgeron.

Other candidates I would have gone after: Fedora, Fleck, McIntyre, Fuente, Gundy, Riley, Briles, Petrino, Peterson (make him say no to $6.5), and see what the hell is going on with Jimbo (give him $7)

Pretty simple. Lots of Head coaches to interview, gauge interest, see how they can change the offense

You might be the only one that believes he would choose us over Texas.

You mentioned 6.5 mil for Peterson...what kind of buyout and contract does he have. There are a lot of factors that make coaches candidates and eliminate them. Hell for all we know Peterson may not be inreresred in the south.

Yes I wanted Herman, but the point of this thread was that LSU interviewed absolutely 0 candidates

So we missed on Herman ok move on.

But we didn't even try for anyone else

I understand that and that is why I made the point of if we hire Herman would you still complain

Are we really to believe the guys involved in coaching search didn't consider the others you listed and likely gauged interest with agents? Fuentes is in first year of his deal...maybe his buyout wouldn't have been worth it. Maybe the powers that be are completely inept...but maybe we don't know all that they know

How in the hell does UofH lose their coach last week, and hold 5 interviews for their HC position, not that I would want any of their candidates at LSU buts is the principle

Easy-- they interview candidates you admitedly say you would not want as coach.

Do you think coaches with games remaining to play in the regular season will go openly interview for another job?

Then why did we have to hire a coach, before other coaches could be free to openly interview??

Stop being so dramatic. Alleva "literally" secured his next best candidate-- Coach O. You may not like that O was "literally" 2nd on the list, but he was. What would you have Alleva do when his #1 walked? Go to number 2 on the list, of course. That's what he did. No one would bitch if he got Herman without interviewing another coach. Oops-- this is the Rant-- of course there would be bitching.

Stick around cupcake. I want to witness you squirm when this shitshow gets worse. You KNOW that O's entire candidacy hinged on luring Kiffin. When Kiffin takes the job at Houston, it will end up just like the HC search and LSU will be forces to stick with Ensiminger because Alleva is incapable of conducting a proper coaching search.
