He inherited the GOAT and benefitted from KK. Since then, recruting is better, $450 mil stadium, Swaggercopter, etc. But - he has endured two mid season meltdowns and has had inexplicable QB setbacks. At this point his salary is not commensurate with his W/L. IMO Chavis hire is his most successful achievement.

Spav is out at season's end. His OC hire will be paramount.

Next year (5) is pivotal. Continued failure at home and losses to the usual suspects will not portend well.

He's safer than Les, that's for damn sure

Only because LSU expects more from its football program. We admit 9-3 is a down year while TAM gives pay raises for it. Sorry.

This is a solid point. I'm not a Sumlin fan at all, but his problem seems to be pathetic showings against better teams, not losing to shite teams.

He's recruiting a ton of skill players, I'll give him that, but his OL recruiting is one major reason they've dropped off since 2013. Simply put, when you are gifted an NFL-talented set of OL players (2 top 10 OTs), then bring not even close to that quality, you are going to suffer.

He's much like Les in that regard. He's a great recruiter only in the sense of getting in dynamic players and highly rated ones. Both of their flaws are that they have no idea how to manage and evenly recruit year to year with years missing key positions entirely. That is why LSU's LBer and DL depth and talent have been putrid.

People at LSU blamed Chavis, but it was known when he was hired that he wasn't a great recruiter or was not someone that wanted to do it at all. Instead of picking up the slack, Les just ignored it and than used Chavis and Haley as scapegoats. Let's see if that happens at A&M.

In reality, he is doing well. TAMU has historically been a bad football program. As a program, they seem to be growing. They just picked a terrible time to take football serious. The SEC west can hurt you any week.

Prior to Sumlin we were like 21, 22 all time so he did raise our profile.

The real issue is other fans project their expectations onto us.
