thanks for posting this info. It's ludicrous that Arky fires him after the last few seasons. May the fayettenam administration pay dearly for this and have losing seasons for the 3 years.

He got lucky with a couple of recruits over the years (Matt Jones, DMAC) and he rode them as much as he could but in the end he could not do any better recruiting (how many were booted for criminal problems?)and it showed with their up and down performances.

I do. They already had the link up though. When I came here and realized yall can't see past you Purple and Yellow (yes, Yellow) glasses, i decided to let you in on some info. LSU was able to easily beat Nutt (most of the time), but with a new coach..you never know.

I happen to like my purple and GOLD glasses, thank you! At least we don't have the Red a** to match your colors (most of the time)

With or without Nutt, Arkansas is destined to be bottom dwellers in the SEC.

they lack the recruiting prowess = because Nutt can't recruit. DMAC has more than one occasion said he was going to Arkansas since he was born, regardless of the coach

Ark just doesn't produce the talent at a high enough level and competing against regional powerhouses with better facilities/programs like LSU, Texas, OU, etc. won't help...

Good luck if you expect aything more than an occassional SEC Championship berth

well, they can't expect the sky at that program IMO... they are known for big and good O-lineman and can get a few guys in there who can be impact players -- but they will never be Florida or LSU, etc.

For those of you LSU fans that obviously believe that the U of A is located in LR and calls "The Dump" (WMS) home, allow me to educate you......

Arkansas is the #15 most valuable program according to Forbes (LSU #6).

LINK

That does not take into account that Wal-Mart and Tyson chicken literally set up camp and call Fayetteville home. There is more money and resources "in those hills" than LSU could EVER tap into.

For those of you that have never been to Fayetteville, I dare you to find nicer facilities in the SEC. Even if you do find nicer facilities, you will have put in a lot of work trying to do so.

As far as talent goes, talent has never been an issue.

Our problem has been a coach that is all rah rah rah with no substance. He is .500 in the SEC, no BCS bowls, and has never won the SEC.

He has had 10 years with talent, facilities, and money. You like him so much, you take him.

"Little ole' Arkansas" has 42 Track and Field National Championships, more NCAA trips, sweet 16's, Final 4's, NC's and NC appearances, and conf. titles than LSU will EVER have. A GREAT baseball team, and a VERY strong football tradition with quite a few conference titles, almost 40 Bowl games, and a NC.

Very few SEC schools have had the overall success in all sports that Arkansas has.

But your football program is still 2nd rate in the SEC.

Ole Miss would be very lucky to get him and frankly they'd get even tougher for LSU to handle under Nutt. That would be a quality hire in my opinion for them. I think the real losers here is Arkansas. I'm not saying that just because they beat LSU, but Nutt is a pretty decent coach and has done some very good things for that program.

Saderade, what makes it 2nd rate?

We have money....lots of money.

We have facilities.....find better?

We have talent.....Friday was enjoyable.

What makes us .500 in the SEC over the past 10 years is horrible coaching. Very bad decisions on and off the field kept us in limbo. At any point we could kick an arse or be the arse. You never knew what Nutt would show up.

He is gone now.

I guess if we make a 2nd rate hire we could end up 2nd rate. Everything else is and has been in place to succeed.

If you consider Nutt a good coach, well, you are retarded. He had a golden platter. Money, facilities, talent, a whole state's support, and did nothing with it.

isn't that including the ones you had to give back?

but as much as it pains me to agree with a piggy, I agree with you on the facilities and Nutt. Y'all have had some talent up there at times and he never does much with it, minus the one big game y'all seem to win just about every year that you were supposed to lose (and unfortunately WE were that team this year ).

Yup, it includes the two we gave up.

I'm not here promoting the U of A.

I just want to clarify that the "poor little Arkansas" attitude hasn't applied since the 1940's.

It does not apply to you guys but in the SWC it was always Arkansas or Texas in just about every sport.

In the SEC, the 90's were hard on the football team but the basketball team was freakish, the baseball team held its own, and Track is not even worth mentioning.

The 2000's have seen much of the same with a 5 year basketball drought which seems to have ended with Arkansas once again picked to win the West.

Point being, there is ZERO reason for the football team not to compete at the highest levels year in and year out.

Arkansas has had success in every sport, at every level, and it was way way way past time for Nutt to step away.

If they fired him, why does that story say the admins offered him a $2.4M salary to stay, and that it is he who chose to leave and take a nice settlement due to the split in the U of A "community" ??

It is second rate because ask anyone who the top programs in the SEC are and Arkansas isn't in the top 6. Of course you have potential with the amount of fan support, facilities and money around the program but you have a couple of years to go to make it happen.

Arkansas has 13 SWC titles, third to Texas (25) and Texas A&M (17). Since joining the SEC, Arkansas has zero (0) SEC championships. Arkansas' national championship was crowned to them by someone other than the AP and Coaches Poll.

Arkansas, you're a nice program, you really are. It's quite pretty in that part of the world, and no one knows it. But you are not one of the best 20 programs in the history of college football. You're just not. Not enough wins, conference championships or national championships. And you had a coach that made you competitive in the SEC, but you couldn't stand it because he did not bring "balance". And, you are entering the coaching derby in the same year as Nebraska and Michigan, just to name a couple.

Seriously.
