This is certainly a surprising hire because Segrest did not fare well in his first run with the Eagles. Maybe he's learned from his mistakes and he'll be better around this time, but it's fair to be concerned.

We can definitely upgrade that coaching position. I was hoping he'd be let go this offseason.

Bert has processed underperforming assistants before. And our dline/special teams have certainly underperformed.

Did he say goodbye to the players first at least? Or did Bert bring all the players to his home?

I don't think Bielema "sent him packing", because it's the NFL, but the D-line kind of sucked this year. No real way around it. He underperformed hard this year.

Bert didn't take players to his home to try and convince him to stay. That's only done for assistants bert really wants to keep.

Sounds to me like the Eagles org is saying screw you Chip, we made a mistake.
