LSU pays it's assistants better than most universities. Is it necessary to hire a head coach to coach one side or the other like Steve Spurrier or Nick Saban?

Your question can be rephrased like this: Is it wise to hire someone as a head coach who doesn't know enough about offense or defense to be a coordinator?

That makes the answer more clear.

I was hoping when Jimbo's name was brought up, this would stop or at least calm down a little.

Instead it's just people starting thread after thread trying to sell O. What it should be is people starting thread after thread thanking god we have a real shot at Jimbo Fisher.

I want a HC that can overcome any shortcomings his at least one of his coordinators has, not DCs/OCs that HAVE to coverup any shortcomings he HC has.

No, it is absolutely not necessary. The posters here are so sold on having an offensive minded HC at LSU this is one of the bogus criteria they are crying about.

Aranda will be the first coordinator to leave, so having a Offensive guru will be of no help replacing him. You are right about the money LSU pays to assistants. With the talent at LSU, there will never be a problem finding the best coordinators available. Les even figured that out for the defense.

I agree. Many don't have the ability to logically discuss topics as to why they believe what they believe. They would rather flame whomever they disagree with rather than post why they feel as they feel.

Here's a great example of the discussion grown ups have about a topic.

My thoughts are that it is a safe (but expensive) bet to hire an offensive minded coach and pay Aranda whatever it takes to keep him. Jimbo would be at the top of the list. With Education funds being cut, there are a lot of folks who don't understand that TAF and the Football program, generate the funding for coach salaries, not the state. I think the AD wanted Jimbo for this year, but the political process of new governor elect and state funding cuts was too much at the time for a big money move. Certainly the powers that be have done the research and know if they can buy out Miles and also pay the buyout for Jimbo providing that Jimbo is willing to come to LSU. I know many say that money is of no concern for a top coach, but with a state in financial decline, it most certainly is going to be a talking point as evidenced by the debacle last November. It would be far cheaper to have CEO and hope that he gets a top notch coordinator lined up as well. I would think that CEO has already made some calls to some really good offensive coordinator friends whom he will pitch to the AD at the end of the season.

See kids. This is how you formulate a logical post.
