It's a smart play by LSU capitalizing on UT floundering about.

If that's what you're going by, LSU shouldn't have hired Saban from Michigan St. huh?

Believe it or not, Navy is actually pretty good this year. Much better than normal.

He probably wanted to hire spurrier so they'd improve the golf courses around town.

Personally, I believe LSU has its man. Not sure if it's Jimbo or Herman (or a semi-surprise like Gundy), but I don't think there's any negotiations going on at this point. LSU has its next coach locked up and all the rumors from the last few days are just to keep people guessing and give their guy a chance to finish the season.
A secondary motive for the rumors might be to identify leaks and clean house. LSU knows who its next coach will be and it's merely a matter of getting to Sunday/Monday announcement.
This is what I believe as well. Alleva and company have had 8 weeks to get this done, I have to think it has been wrapped up by now.
However we cannot underestimate the damage the media can do if the story breaks before the new coach's season ends. Thus the rumors and misinformation. My question is this - how does the LSU team prevent leaks of the real information? There's a story there after all this plays out.

That's correct. It was O's job to lose and he still hasn't lost it.

Booster really pushing King to close the deal with Herman as Jimbo buzz cools. Special thanks to Texas size ego wanting I big name coach. King is in Houston now so LSU feels like this is the final step. Herman does plan to bring staff details left unsettled but LSU gave him the green light. Herman also plans to retain staff. Sexton contacted Texas to gauge interest not sure if it was Saban or Jimbo.

I just want this to be over. If this is just going to be another case of prototypical, incestuous Louisiana bumbling and mediocrity, I'd rather know now so I can emotionally disengage and direct the bulk of my money elsewhere.
