I had lunch with my cousin today, whose dad (my uncle) works for the Athletic Dept. Here’s the run down.
It IS allegedly true that Scott has narrowed his search down to 4 coaches.
1–Lincoln Riley—homerun hire, no brained, top of the list. However, Scott isn’t so sure he can lure him. The fact that he will be in the playoffs makes it a little more difficult as well.
2–Fickell—Scott loves him and thinks he can do amazing things here but isn’t sure he would leave his current job as he feels Fickell may stay put a couple years until a big time Big Ten job opens up.
3–Franklin—Scott wants to see how the next few weeks shake up as Penn St. runs their gauntlet of a schedule. If Franklin can go 3-1 or lose closely and go 2-2, he may get the LSU job.
4–Napier—I know, I know, but Scott loves this guy. He thinks other than Riley, Napier is the best all around coach and could be our guy for the next 10-12 years with huge success. With this said, I’m not sure why he isn’t 2 on the list, but he isn’t.
Also note, Scott isn’t convinced Aranda is ready for a big jump to a program like LSU.
Kiffin he has no interest in bc of all his baggage.
Also, with several of his options vying for playoff spots, we may not lock our guy down until playoffs get started or our guy loses out.
It’s gonna be a long 2 months.

Can a parent of a former player corroborate your information?

Homer how?

This statement has throwing out everything you posted. You don’t decide to a hire a guy based on how he does over 4 weeks this season.

ADs simply do not think like this.

Autocorrect, I'm sure. Supposed to be "homerun hire".

I’m not jumping into the sauce pool again, but I can 100% confirm this is a big deal for several candidates that is overlooked by most fans/supporters

Okay but then this…

Makes no sense to me

This is a total generalization, the only thing Scott has leaked is smokescreens.

From everything we've heard, Woodward isn't telling anyone anything, much less some random person's uncle in the athletic department.

For my own peace of mind, I chose to believe you.

In all sincerity, would you care to explain why this is such a big deal/ deal breaker pertaining to a potential hire?

People need to be prepared for this thing to go to January and not lose their shite if someone isn't announced immediately after our last game. It's impossible to pitch a coach in the middle of their season, and you will need to convince any coach on that list, in person, to have any sort of shot (talking Riley, Fickel, Franklin). This hire is bigger than a couple weeks leg up on recruiting.

Yeah the athletic department has been a tightly run ship since he got there. It isn’t like when Alleva was here and there were 16 factions inside the department all releasing different tidbits of info all over the place
Plus it’s fricking October. It’s hilarious to me that some people think we’ve picked anybody at this point or have determined who we are going to hire.
