Someone is going to be very very upset! Bama fan swears Saban going no where, and Texas fans are going to have tremendous letdown with any coach besides saban! As an LSU fan, I cant wait to see either one happen!!!!!

No, he wasn't going to Michigan. He told LSU that the night before the game. I don't know if he was considering it or not, but he wasn't going BEFORE Herbstreit embarrassed himself. My info, at the time, came from someone in the know who was there, early the next morning before Herbstreit said what he said.

I think it's funny people disagree with your version and think Les somehow turned it down. If you're a coach and your dream job is offered to you on a silver platter and someone announcing it prematurely makes you change your mind, then you are an idiot. While I'd understand it affecting his team's focus for the game that day, I seriously doubt Les, who at the time had no idea they'd get a shot at the NC after that game, would just throw it away over a conference championship game.

Saban is a stud - best in the world at what he does. And he has the sense to know he should maximize his compensation. He also knows that, rantards aside, there's no differences among LSU, Bama, UT, or Princeton, for that matter. It's a friggin game of no importance whatsoever. The universities, coaches, etc. are all in league to take money from the fans. he's just getting his. Good for him.
