The powers look at single games, just like our dumbass fans. This is the worst possible way to judge a coach. Hell arky may have brought their worst gameplan and effort, but we're going to hire a coach because we beat them?

So to sum it up, Alleva needs to push hard to get Jimbo or Herman.

It's just a tough situation. Coach O really is a great guy and I can't help but root for him. I hope he will remain on staff until something better comes along for him.

tell me, how long has Ed been a known DC like say a Pellini, Chavis, Venables, Aranda, Pruitt, MArk and Bob stoops (when they were DC's), Kirby smart (when he was a DC), etc??????????

He has aranda to call defenses. He wouldn't have to call anything. Great OC and great DC typically make for a very balanced team. I think we are overvaluing the HC position. What we truly need to focus our attention on is keeping Aranda and finding a top flight OC to create more balance on our offense. The rest will take care of itself. There's your crickets

what if aranda leaves? the problem with coach o is you are incredible dependent on making GREAT coordinator hires. he has to hit a homerun every time or he is toast.

They don't grow on trees, but we just plucked one of best dc's in the nation from wisconsin. It happens.

You do understand that head coaches okay strategies or revise them. Very few actually call plays. Sometimes I can tell that none of you have never been apart of a coaching staff.

When Aranda leaves we'll do the same thing. Almost every coach in the nation depends on homerun coordinators. There is no coach that does it alone.

We may have him on our staff with craig, or we may reach out and look around. I, as none of you are, am not involved in the actual coaching search. This is my opinion, just like yours. But understand, we will find what we're looking for.

I agree. If LSU gives it to O based on this it is very shortsighted.

You are so correct.

Well, the only person to hire him to do that job is himself, with bad results.

you did not answer the question. nice dodge. We do not need another CEo type HC who cannot call one side of the ball. Sadly you are too obtuse to get this.

This is not a long-term strategy for sustained success. Outside of LSU, I can't think of a successful program with anything resembling elite status for a sustained period of time with the model of having a subpar-to-mediocre HC and great assistants. I'd rather not revisit that precarious bullshite this go-around as a copout.
