said it today on the morning drive. jimbo talk intensified after the bama loss but died down after arkansas win.

it is disturbing to me that this thing seems to shift week to week.

this is why losing one of our last two might actually be a blessing in disguise.

went through that already with Whiskey and Auburn to dump Miles. It shouldn't have to be like this. This is archer all over again. Except Ed can recruit but cannot call one side of the ball.

We're not going to lose. They're both going to be dominating wins for the simple fact Florida and A&M will not be able to stop the run. A&M is abysmal right now, they're just extremely soft.

I agree. If LSU gives it to O based on this it is very shortsighted.

What is funny is GG got the "he's an idiot" reputation for writing what we all now know to be true about Miles' tenure at LSU. GG, like some of us on here, saw it a long time ago. Miles will not change, he is going to run his offense, he has favorites that will play and he will not vary, etc.

That being said, I don't know what his sources look like, but certainly hope he is wrong that there is a legitimate struggle between Jimbo and O. That is like comparing a nice NY Strip to ground beef. O is not in the same class as Jimbo and its not even close. Now if we don't get Fisher or Herman then MAYBE you start looking at O.

You know what's crazy? When all the rankings are said and done, we're likely looking at an LSU team with ZERO wins against ranked opponents.

How do you know he can't call defense? He's been around some great defenses and around some great defensive minds. I don't think it matters much, but I think he could call defense a lot better than most on here think.

Losing the A&M game, as opposed to trouncing them on their home field (which I expect to happen) might keep them from canning Sumlin. Canning him would put them squarely in the Tom Herman sweepstakes. One of my agg33 friends thinks Sumlin *will* get canned after an LSU loss next week.

i think sumlin will be there no matter what in 2017. but he will be the number 1 hot seat coach if he loses to lsu.

I cannot believe this. How did these people become our Powers That Be if they can't even make such an obvious choice. No other Top 25 program would even consider Ed O as their 1st or even 3rd choice. It's unreal that our admins want to use LSU as a guinea pig for O.

I'm more than happy to give O props for what he's done so far and have even given him the benefit of the doubt for learning from past mistakes. I have even gone as far as to say if he runs the table he deserves serious "consideration" for the job. My top choice has always been Jimbo and it remains that way. I've been critical of Herman for faltering against lesser opponents and his limited experience moreso because some have elevated him to Meyer and Saban status the way they've talked about him. I still think he would be a good hire and the thought of him and Aranda sticking around for a while is extremely tempting.

The issue now with judging O's performance strictly on the remaining schedule from his interim is that we've now seen that every other team outside of Bama has serious deficiencies and LSU honestly is the better team. Seeing Arky get trashed by Auburn, OM fall apart, Florida and A&M without their QB, there are no signature wins to credit O and really put him in a position to prove he should be coach.

So to sum it up, Alleva needs to push hard to get Jimbo or Herman.

I think LSU will monkey-stomp a+m, but it will be a low scoring struggle against Florida. Their defense can still bring it enough to give our offense trouble.

tell me, how long has Ed been a known DC like say a Pellini, Chavis, Venables, Aranda, Pruitt, MArk and Bob stoops (when they were DC's), Kirby smart (when he was a DC), etc??????????

The powers look at single games, just like our dumbass fans. This is the worst possible way to judge a coach. Hell arky may have brought their worst gameplan and effort, but we're going to hire a coach because we beat them?

Being around geniuses doesn't make you a genius. There's a reason he's been a positional coach his entire career (minus ole miss). O is a great motivator and can teach the d line, but I don't think anyone is confusing him for a tactician. But he does say geaux tigers like a bayou boy so we should hire him as head coach.
