Was awful at A&M in the late 60's/early 70's, went on to win an NC at Bama.

Pete Carrol is another good example, IMO.

Belichick too, although they both had at least one good season in their tenures where they ended up fired

Unfortunately we are not Bama

No Pete was okay at New England. Not amazing but made the playoffs twice.

Stallings was 27-41-1 at A&M

Its Ed Orgeron and if he gets his way, Kiffin. I would think there is a good chance of that happening

Dabo Sweeney also shows somewhat of a parallel.

How? Just because he's was an interim coach who got the permanent job?

There should be plenty of good candidates when O is inevitably fired after 3 poor to mediocre years.

PJ Fleck
Chad Morris
Phillip Montgomery
Matt Campbell
Bryan Harsin
Dave Aranda
Frank Wilson
Scott Frost

Hell Willie Taggert might parlay his success at USF into a better job and prove himself even more. Mike MacIntyre might be on the radar if he keeps up with what he is doing at Colorado. Etc
