Probably would've been interim then HC at LSU if he would've stayed. He's the best recruiter in program history, he and Jaluke would've absolutely stonewalled New Orleans area schools and the state.

Instead, while we're muddling in mediocrity, I'm sure he'll catch the eye of A&M, Arkansas, or Miss State eventually and steal some significant recruits.

Nothing to laugh at.

Frank Wilson had a great season.

He's at least one "home" candidate for LSU in the future.

I'd trade Frank for O straight up right now.

Why would have been the perfect interim coach? Before going to UTSA the highest position he ever held was a position coach.

While at LSU, he was the Associate Head Coach, running backs coach, and recruiting coordinator. Orgeron was the d-line coach and still would be.

Frank keeps this up, he'll get hired at a school a little bigger and get to prove himself a little more.

He needs some experience at a bigger program under his belt before I'd consider him at LSU.

Who am I kidding? That's using logic pre-dating us hiring Ed Orgeron. I'd take him over Orgeron in a heartbeat.

When Miles was fired we were still in contention for the West. Having been a head coach (while not successful) and his pretty successful stint at USC O was a no brainer.

You're right, no brains were used. You put a guy in position to do exactly what he did, win over the fanbase with his accent and wins over shitty teams and cornering yourself into hiring him full time.

It almost happened at USC with pressure from those players and fans because of O's politicking. It was easy to predict.
