...rather than take the LSU job. For what it is worth. He said Herman thinks the SEC West is too high a hill to climb.

I think I am about to get skewed...

I honestly thought he was going to stay in Houston rather than taking any job. Texas is not going to be any easier than LSU would be.

And he thinks dealing with the multiple bosses at UT will be an easier road to travel?

So, he doesn't believe in order to be the best you have to beat the best. If true, he wasn't ready for LSU yet.

Its called job security/path of least resistance. Why go to the SEC West and have your livelihood determined by going up against the best every yr when you can go the route of urban Meyer and go to the biggest dog in another conf and build your team, only time youll see Saban is in the playoffs? Same with guys like Jimbo, he knows he beats Clemson and wins the ACC he's in good shape for the playoffs.

I believe you. I was told that about him by a big time booster at UT that played golf with him awhile back. Thinks the west is full of cheaters (specifically mentioned Ole Miss) and that it's too hard to get to playoffs.

Sure it is. Texas doesn't have to play Bama every November.

I'd rather be at UT to succeed. The yearly schedule will just be easier on him. He'll be one of the few teams that gets the recruits to build a good offense and defense instead of just loading up on offense. In the SEC half the teams pull top 10 classes whether they do well or not. There is a lot of raw talent and depth in the SEC. The coaching has been holding the success back a bit despite that raw talent.
