LSU firing Miles after 4 games was not a move to see if Ed Orgeron could "audition" for the job. You're foolish if you think that is the case. They fired Miles after those 4 games because they knew they could get their "upgrade" type coach. I'm pretty sure its Jimbo, but Herman is in the mix. You don't pay a near $10M buyout to hire Ed Orgeron. You do that because you've got your crap together, and have the assurances that the Gov & Univ Pres aren't going to F it up this time.

Quit talking about O, because that's just white rubber boot wet dream talk.

I want to believe this, but then I remember who our administration consists of and I lose hope. They caved to media pressure last year and now the media is all over O's nuts this year. Will they cave again? Logic says no, but this is LSU. And stupidity has been the theme for a few years now.

they fired him so he wouldn't be able to pull a 2015 and save his job again.

O is getting the job if he wins out. it seems a growing number of our fanbase and boosters want it. watch alleva cave.

He finally showed a backbone against Foley and Sankey. Maybe he turned a corner.

Then they are sad. LSU will be a laughing stock.

do you realize the ground swell of support that will occur if he wins the last two games and gets a sugar bowl bid? it will be similar to the insanity that occurred to save miles last year. the boosters will be kicking down alleva's door to ensure their local boy gets the job.

Maybe the locals, the ones with the real money won't be.

You'd like to think that, but it was more complicated than that. You do not fire a coach like Miles, with his overall record one quarter into the season unless he really pisses you off.

He pissed off Alleva and some members of TAF BIG TIME. Cameron was the reason from what I understand. Orgeron fired him 20 minutes after getting the job - that should tell you what got Miles fired at that time and into the season....something like Miles, firing that soon into the season is pretty unprecedented.

I believe all of that. We give Alelva a hard time, but even he should realize that you don't pay a buyout of that size just to make a mediocre hire. Especially if there is interest elsewhere.

I'm confident O won't be HC, no matter how the season plays out.

That may not have been the intention, but it certainly is the reality. And it was quite obivious from day one, this would be the case. There was absolutely no strategic advantage of being the first big school with an opening. Herman and Fisher were just starting their seasons, no way did they want to entertain LSU questions. Alleva bombed again, he let O do the same thing he did at USC and try to lay claim to the job. Do you remember Os 1st press conference, he did not use the word interim, he used "Head Coach"

I think there was an element that all was not yet lost after the Auburn game, as opposed to thinking our last year with Fournette was completely flushed already. So, there was an outside chance that LSU's interim HC could make a run. And if his gameplan didn't completely crater against Bama, we'd probably be in the playoff hunt, and certainly the driver's seat for the SEC title.

But, now that those things are off the table, yes, it is back to being exclusively about finding the right coach and getting a lead on that.

the fact is that the FOLKS IN CHARGE are actually the ones that will decide this. duh.

and those folks are not employed by LSU. the money to pay the coaches DOES NOT COME FROM LSU. ergo, the people who pay the money are the one's that will decide. who woulda thunk it.

I wish you were the AD.

We have clowns running the circus. The fact that O was even a consideration was a monumental F++k up
