That’s good news if his wife is coming too. Where was that reported?

It wasn’t, and I can’t give up my source but I assure you. Coming from the same person that told me Peetz was almost a done deal Saturday night before anyone knew who Peetz was.

With the wife coming and Orgeron talking so publically about the guys coming in being the first choices, you would really think things are basically a done deal...sure hope so.

I hope we end up getting both but if either turn LSU down, O has opened himself up to more criticism.

I think it was unnecessary on his part to reveal those guys are who he wants. Why show your cards?

I think it would have been better to say something like this: "we have some guys coming in this week we are really excited about and who I believe would be a good fit. Hopefully we'll know more later this week."

I would think when he has 6 kids showing him a place like UHigh and saying we’ll take care of your family, etc that would sell he and the wife a little.

No, looks like he's coming to BR on Thursday.

Well thats a good sign. Theres no reason to conduct an in person interview with covid ongoing unless its progressed to a pretty serious level of discussion.

I imagine this meeting is like when you're buying a home and pretty sure you want it, but want to start paying attention to other things like the neighbors, the traffic, etc. to help you finalize a decision. They'll probably drive around and look at homes this weekend. Let's just hope that the thugs behave themselves and chill with the murders for at least this weekend.

Haha! I hate to share shite, and I don’t really find out that much honestly, bc if I’m wrong I know the hell that’ll get rained down on me and sometimes if it’s too early my source will be like “bro?!?!” Bc I use my real name as my username. When I heard about Peetz on Saturday night his words were, “I swear if you post this on T_D!”lol
And let me say this- I have no idea whatsoever if Freeman is close to a done deal, I only know that his wife is coming down here with him.

A good sign on Freeman is his wife supposed to be coming also. Seems like a positive sign to me that it’s serious interest at least.

Honestly, how hard is it for Ed to just say, "I thought X was my number one choice but when I interviewed Y, I was totally blown away and knew he was our guy."

I think people are making too big a deal over this.

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, just risky.

You can’t walk back what you said, if you don’t hire these guys, it’s automatically viewed as a failure and you had to settle on plan B guys.

I'm still ridin' the shrimp boat but O didn't do a good job this year. There were enough mitigating circumstances to warrant a one year pass, but still, O didn't do a good job this year.

I have to agree with this. And I think at this point you kinda have to push all your chips in. We’ve gotten to the point of Natty or bust around here. I mean whose feelings are you really gonna hurt, Derek Mason’s? He knows he ain’t first choice otherwise he’d of been hired 2 weeks ago. O knows he was the 3rd choice, happily accepted it, and won a Natty. I think we give these coach’s emotional sensitivity a little too much attention.

I think it’s all a done deal and the trips to BR are to finalize signatures on contracts

There's nothing stopping Freeman from signing his contract and emailing today. If he hasn't done that already and he decides to go in a different direction, that will not be a good look for O.

By being so candid about Mangas/Peetz and Freeman this morning,
you might be right.

But that is also an influence/negotiating tactic.

Just citing that it could be either. Could be both actually.

ETA: While acknowledging this wouldn't be a primary factor for Freeman himself, it could be a secondary one for the wife and family... Freeman is a practicing Catholic and his kids attend a private school. There's no shortage of either in S La. It was theorized that it played a minor role in not going to Lansing at the beginning of 2020 and why his name keeps coming up with Notre Dame. I'm just saying one of his past impediments might not exist regarding LSU.
