Listened to his acceptance speech the other night on Sirius radio in full. He mentioned Saban several times as being his mentor. Its really a funny thing to hear a hillbilly doing Saban speak. (he even threw in an "aight" a few times...)

If you get a chance to listen to Dooley, pretend its Saban doing an impersonation of a hillbilly coach.

"The Pinocchio", as presented by his maker Geppetto (also known as Nick).

refreshing to hear a coach not say the words "THE WANT" or "THE OPPORTUNITY EXISTS" or "WE FINISHED SECOND IN THAT GAME."

I do? Go listen to the presser and then tell me if you think he sounds like Saban. I'll try to drum up a link if possible.

Recruits only need to look at the on the field play calling and the limited opportunities for playing time and career development to make that decision.

Tenn. and LSU fans truly don't know how good this guy is. He is JUST like a young Saban, and it's a shame that we don't have a shot with him.

You may be correct with your first statement. Your second one lost me though. What do you mean we dont have a shot with him?

The problem with Dooley is that he doesn't bring with him the defensive expertise that a "student of Saban" would normally bring.

He was an offensive assistant and doens't have an above average grasp of Xs and Os. So, his fate will always be tied to his coaching staff.

Saban has a certain philosophy and the knowledge and experience to implement it. Dooley is a CEO type coach and will only succeed if he can bring great coordinators in. That's why I never see him having huge success.

It is entertaining to see the audience growing, by each viewing, for the movie "The Dooley's Knob Slurpfest"

Association with Saban doesn't automatically pass on the coaching skill set - it is not a bloody contagious disease to catch from someone.

Dooley might or might not turn out to be a good/great coach. But he has shown nothing yet at Tech for him to be considered the second coming of Majors at UT.

For all that you know he might well turn out to be more like Cutcliffe @ Ole Miss than like Meyer @ Florida.

Let us wait at least one year before all the accolades.

None of Tech's starters could make LSU's two-deep roster. Yet Tech, with a break or two, would have beaten LSU in '09. If you don't think Dooley out coached Miles in that game, you didn't watch it. Tennessee got a great coach and person. In 3 years, Meyer, will be in a rehab institution, Saban at his lake house, Spurrier on the golf course, and Miles and Richt somewhere else. Nutt tops out at 8-4 every year. Dooley wil be the king of the hill.
