I remember when people here were saying Herman was way overrated because he lost a game.

Took an 8 win team and made them an 11 win team in a joke conference in the most populous city in arguably the most talented recruiting state in the country. Induct him in the hall of fame.

You do realize that if Temple wins their bowl game, they will set the school record for wins in a season, right?

The only other time they won 10 games was 1979.

Little tougher to recruit and coach at Temple compared to Houston. Just a wee bit tougher.

Sumlin never won the conference at Houston and never got them to a major bowl game. Herman did it in year one. And it's not like it happens all the time at Houston.

Not to mention that the AAC is better than the conference Sumlin coached in.

Not to mention him currently having a 5* DT committed currently who could go anywhere in the country and significant interest from a few other big fine recruits

UH is still trying to get in the Big XII, right? What are the chances?

Slim, but UH admin and boosters (i.e. Billionaire restaurateur Feritta) are trying hard.

But UT runs the conference and the last thing they need is yearly beat downs from Baylor, TCU AND UH.

I will say this about the argument that "the Big 12 doesn't need the Houston market because it already has it," A&M's and LSU's largest alumni bases are in Houston, and there are tons of alumni here from other SEC programs. Add to that UT being down for several years now, and you have a huge city with allegiances now split between the two conferences. That would change with several Big 12 games per year in the heart of the city.
