This could be a 4-8 or 5-7 season. They are young and down and need to be rebuilt a little bit. He's 76 years old. Anybody heard anything or have any thoughts?

Would hate to see him go out on that type of year. The rest of their games are winnable. Kansas should be a given. Texas Tech, Iowa State, and West Virginia are all toss ups. Hopefully if he does hang it up they at least manage 6-6.

As OCD as he reportedly is, I can't see him retiring on a down year.

I think the biggest holdup on his retirement is that he is pretty adamant that his son Sean Snyder replace him. He's never coached anywhere other than under his dad, and was an administrative type for a great deal of that until the last few years.

No one outside of the Snyder family thinks that's even a remotely good idea.

He could keep going just to try to continue to make that happen, unless it becomes physically difficult to do so.

They need to hire Brent Venables from Clemson.

He tried to retire before. Didn't work out too well for KState.

He needs to.
The game does catch up with you. See Beamer.
Especially in places that are hard to recruit to

He had a much less talented team within one possession of Baylor. Do not count the old magician out.

That guy has done more with less than any other coach in CFB history in my opinion. One of the greats.

Venables will be able to get a better job than K-State.

Venables is from Kansas, went to K-State, was an asst. a K-State for a bit...always seemed like a natural fit for him to go back there and be HC someday.

Yes. They're really lucky right now that an up and Comer like him has such strong ties to KSU and Snyder himself. It's not a guarantee to get him if a better job comes calling, but they're in the best position to land a hot name now than they may be down the road.

I don't think coaches are that caught up anymore in going to their alma mater.

I hope Bill Snyder never retires

When you look up the words "class" and "integrity" there is a picture of Bill Snyder.

Also he is probably the best pound for pound coach of all time. He has almost no one that other big programs gave a single look at. Did he not have a 5th string walk on QB for a number of games this year? There is a reason Kansas State was one of the worst ever teams without him and has been respectable with him. They wont dare push him out.

He probably is the all time great. Sports Illustrated had an article titled "Futility U" saying that Kansas State Football would never be able to be decent let alone go to bowl games

Bill Snyder had 11 win seasons in something like 10/11 years at one point despite having no HS recruiting grounds, no football support and the lesser university in teh state

This summarizes the perspective of KSU alums and administration as they have failed to this point to create an effective succession plan. Ron Prince anybody? Yikes.
