I don't get Esminger either unless it's some admin job.

I applaud what he did, but here's a bonus and a desk job.

Huh? How can you say this and not want Ensminger helping piece together game plans, evaluating personnel, coaching up the TEs -- who played very well in his brief time as OC?

This is going to be interesting. No doubt O will be planting stories in the media through The Prince.

Ensminger's role is perfectly suited to the admin/shadow coaching role

he's the "film guy" of the Miles era and can do that without being a designated coach

How did this happen? I'm old enough to remember as far back as the 80's, and the BR/LA media was harsh as frick when it needed to be. They were tough but fair.

How did O get the media in Louisiana carrying water for him seemingly overnight? I don't get it. They would never have gushed this way for Miles or Saban at all.

He gave them access that they haven't had for 20 years into our program.

And he hired Ponamski.

He's the anti-Miles when it comes to them. Answers everything and gives them unlimited access.

How did this happen?

when O got the interim tag he basically started selling EVERYONE on changing stuff that Miles did that pissed people off. with the media i'm sure he promised more access to the program (and they immediately got to watch practices, for example)

then when it was clear that Alleva wanted O, i'm sure LSU made it known that you will promote O or get shut out

this is all coordinated

Pete Jenkins name alone recruits itself. Anyone who thinks differently is a damn fool. The man is very widely and almost indisputabley regarded as the best D-Line coach ever. Any recruit with half a brain should be begging for the opportunity to learn under his tutelage.

Why would you just want him as a designated "film guy"? I want him coaching at practice.

The TEs actually looked pretty good once we threw to them.

He is so old (no disrespect). How can he relate to the currrent players in today's day and age?

Simple. He is a legend who will forget more about football than most will ever learn. His knowledge base is invaluable and he's apparently able to still be active. Arnsparger coached into his later years after leaving Florida as AD. It's not that uncommon.

Its obvious that Jenkins is a mentor to Orgeron and a heck of a coach. He brought him in immediately. Why would you ask him to cut him loose?
