I could have sworn I read something like that last night. If LSU isn't willing to pay top dollar then I don't seeing us ever landing a top coach . I really hope I misread a article or that was BS.

From what i have read ( could be bullshite ) it had little to do with money and more to do with staffing decisions.

I think it was more of Jimbo wanting to replace Aranda with Pruit more than money

Yeah I thought it was 65mil over 10 years = 6.5 a year. Wonder if LSU didn't want to commit to 10 years???

Maybe they didn't want to be extorted by Sexton every year or 2

If these reports are correct, which remains to be seen (we should know for sure by Sunday), it was about the total guarantee. $65 million is kind of absurd. Would indicate Jimbo didn't want to be here, except for a ridiculous offer.

I mean, he's got a bit of leverage, sure, but 10 years? Is he fricking serious?

I just can't believe that Jimbo--or anybody, really--would not take a job he really wanted solely because his potential employers didn't agree to his
ridiculous counter. People keep saying Sextons job is to get Jimbo the most money possible. But thats not true--it's to get him the best deal at the job he wants. You don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Which is why I think--at least up until now--it looks
like
Jimbo wanted to wind up at Florida State all along.

Anyone claiming to know definitive terms of what was demanded are kidding themselves. We probably won't know for a long time if ever what the true story is with Jimbo. Especially since Bertman isn't there to eventually spill the beans.

This is what LSU balked at. Saban doesn't even have a 10 year deal.

It was almost Jimbo was asking for something totally unreasonable to make LSU go away. He knew LSU wouldn't concede to that so that it would make LSU look like it walked away.

It's like when someone is trying to sell you something, but they are asking for something so asinine that you don't even take them seriously anymore.

No. Jimbo said no after FSU gave him what he wanted.
