Any chance DP was binge watching House of Cards back when O was unemployed in Mandeville and DP was hosting his morning drive show?

The two of them together now and their rise to power is pretty unlikely but very impressive.

DP was connected enough to know the inside scoop on the Chavis/Miles clause drama and saw the writing on the wall with Miles. This is around the time he started having O on his show weekly and hyping him up.

The whole thing has been pretty well played. Down to DP being against running Miles off at the of last year but being pretty OK with him getting run off mid-season so that an interim could be put in place.

This might be the best post I read on here in some time. Never gave that angle much thought until now.

Ponamsky was the architect, and I fricking despise him for it.

The prince is great at many things: eating, talking, running 40 yard dash. But he's not that intelligent or forward thinking

I knew the little hedgehog was putting out the propaganda but the fact that this goes all the way back a couple of years didn't actually occur to me until I heard Hannigriff mumble something to the effect of "O's been preparing for this for two years".

Then just thinking back to the sequence of events and how Ed O is magically our HC and it all fell into place.

First I just want to say, Ed Orgeron created and executed one of the most commendable subtle ploys to gain this job. It wasn't wins that got him this job, his wins here aren't that impressive, it was the support he garnered that made it an easy cop out for alleva. He first off, used Derek Ponamsky to give him an unofficial voice in Baton Rouge through certain media outlets, then he opens the program to former players, next he gives the media access they have never been accustomed to, and finally he was able to rally the players 100% behind him.

Fans listen to the radio and hear positive things about O, fans who follow former players hear them singing his praise for allowing them back into the program, and to top it off fans see current players straight up saying they want O to be head coach.

And for that I applaud coach o like no other, it was masterful.

This is what I said last night, I give both an A.

it was a masterful campaign waged by Lord DerekP and O, and Alleva fell for it hook, line and sinker.

got to give them props for seeing and exploiting the weaknesses within the LSU athletics power structure. they gambled on the sentimental value of having a 'one of us' candidate and won big in the end.

I don't think it goes that deep but there's definitely a reason he hired that weasel so quickly. Initially I dismissed it as O doing him a solid and giving him a meaningless gopher job for a few weeks....but a week in it was pretty clear what they were up to, I said it several times then.

O was drawn to the job because he knew Miles was on the way out.

SFP had a really good post about this -- basically, that while Orgeron is mostly a simpleton, he has honed his political con game through the years to the point it is somewhat scary now. Throw in a coon arse fanbase and cheap, weak AD that is receptive to it, and voila. Coach Oeaux.

How does Gordy Rush escape criticism here? Gordy runs that station, and Gordy started the O pumping about 2 weeks into the Orgeron era. He's the one that allowed his entire station to be used as the campaign headquarters.

Congress is going to have to pass a law because of what transpired this weekend.

campaign financing laws should extend to coaching searches as well

Y'all are giving too much credit to a fat arse that can't even run a 40-yard dash.
