Obviously of all people in the media here he’s the most connected and knows much more than he lets on. He got visibly figity when the talk turned to who the coach is going to be. Reading between the lines though a few things were apparent:

-Riley is listening but is going to be a hard pull

-Jimbo is very much in play

-Woodward doesn’t want Tucker but others at LSU do

-Napier is on the table but would be the 4th or 5th choice

-There’s little to no interest in Lane

-Mark Stoops is a wild card, though he may not want to be in the pressure cooker here

So pretty much what he's saying is that it's going to be Jimbo, maybe possibly Lincoln

Sort of. He did imply that some at LSU are meh on Jimbo and the price tag would be north of $10 million, though it’s also clear that the money is there if Woodward wants to spend it.

If money is no object, which sounds like that's the case, means it's Lincoln's job to turn down, which is somewhat promising, if nothing else, it will be a very hard decision for him to make.

At the very least it’s clear that he didn’t immediately say no

We’re also going to need to root for them to drop a game because if he’s in the playoffs I doubt it happens

No mention of Franklin, Fickell, Rhule, or Urban, so I’m gonna choose to believe your bullshite.

ETA: also no mention of Aranda, so now I’m torn.

I think Stoops is awesome. Here’s my issue, he’s done an incredible job recruiting Ohio and the Midwest and I don’t know how that translates to LSU.

His family is Youngstown royalty and he played at Iowa and he’s pulled a lot of really good 2nd tier players from Ohio. Can he have similar success in east Texas? Or Florida? Can he fend off intruders in Louisiana? Idk. Kentucky might be the perfect spot for him.

I'm sorry but this is a dumb fricking criteria to have. Who gives a flying frick if your coach is in the playoffs or not. We should be pursuing a guy who will be here years solidifying the program not some dumb arbitrary barrier for a recruiting class to fall to pieces.

I'd gladly sacrifice the recruiting class if we got the difference between a homerun and a solid hire. You can rebuild immediately through the transfer portal. Keeping this recruiting class together is not as important as getting the right hire.

For that reason, I do not believe this to be true. Nobody at LSU is that dumb.

Taking into consideration that the 2 or 3 posters on here that are actually in the know have alluded to this, I'm still not sure I buy into it, it's likely, but I don't think the person Scott has in his crosshairs will automatically be extinguished because of it.

I think the issue is he wouldn’t even say yes or no until after OU is out, you can’t sit around waiting for an answer and if it’s No and your #2, 3, and 4 choices are all off the table then where does that leave you?

I doubt OU wins out anyway. It's amazing that team has not lost a game yet tbh. They're not as good as their record suggests this year.

The bigger concern about waiting till after the playoff isn't the recruiting class. It's about being turned down in January after all your Plan Bs have signed new contracts. You don't want to be without a chair when the music stops.

Aranda

If his name doesn’t come up, it’s a good sign …. Because he’s definitely being considered IMO

At this moment, I think he will be the hire. If OU loses a game, I think things could change though.

Personally, I believe it’s down to Riley/Aranda (maybe Dabo too)

The Jimbo chatter is intentional…Basically the Bianco of this search.
