All of those seem to be intertwined.

Not sure if this has been linked already. If so, I apologize.

My question is this: What do you think the end game is with Boren? Is he just a publicity hound who just likes to see his name in print? Is he really wavering on expansion?

I wonder if he is playing hardball. (I know when the ACC expanded, VT wasn't on their A list initially, but the UVA governor got involved and basically told the UVA prez, "Get VT in the conference or suffer dire financial consequences."

Just wondering if Boren has a school he definitely wants, but others don't. (BYU?) He he telling the other members of the Board, "If you don't give us who we want, we'll make sure nobody gets in."

Maybe he is telling the Texas schools, "We'll vote for Houston if you vote for _______."

Two questions:

1. What do y'all think about Boren and his positioning on expansion?
2. Does Houston getting into Big 12 really hurt LSU's chances and getting Herman?

If Houston gets into the Big 12, it will only hurt them. Theyd go from whipping up on teams like UConn and Tulane to having to play against schools that have been investing in football for generations. (Sure you can beat Oklahoma once in a while at Houston, but competing for recruits and attention with powerhouses like UT and OU year round will not go well for Houston who is just recently starting to take football seriously, They're decades behind in tradition, fanbase, and facilities).
They'd be better off as a program staying where they are.

As for Herman, i cant imagine any coach wanting to stay at the kiddie table when the big boys come calling. Dont forget Herman considered South Carolina last year.
He's smart enough to realize the potential at LSU is much better than at Houston, just like he realized the potential at SC was not there.

If Charlie Strong can hang on at UT, i think we're sitting pretty. USC cant fire a coach this soon and their athletic administration is more screwed up than ours.

I heard from 2 OU alums, if they cant get an agreement with UT and the Big 12 over a TV network, OU will be out.

Where is OU going to go?

I am not convinced that they can just up and leave. These are big big pieces moving around here that take time. OU cant just decide tomorrow they want to leave the Big 12 and the B1G or SEC is going to take them and go to an odd number of teams

OU and Okie State flirted with the PAC twice. Okie State's less than stellar academics was the only thing that really prevented a deal.

If OU were willing to leave behind its little brother, they could probably go west.

Every heard of a signing bonus? LSU need to either go all in on Herman or continue to hire coaches they way they always have

and that's really the crux of the whole conference survival issue. UT is killing the Big 12; they would be stupid to expand membership w/o expanding revenue enough to make it profitable.

Nothing screams Pacific Athletic Conference quite like Norman, OK.
