I know Baylor is going after him pretty hard, but dont think Morris wants the job, I think he wants a bigger job than Baylor, he may think SMU is on par with them as far as whats there.

Basically built Clemson's offense, Former High School coach in Texas, strong recruiting ties there. Only in second year at SMU but Herman is in his 2nd year as well.

Remember we didnt see Miles coming at all, I think this is the guy that has a good chance if Herman doesnt come and havent heard his name alot either..

Talk about failing upward. He must have gone to the Gene Chizik school of coaching promotions.

Nobody put a gun to his head and told him to go to SMU. He chose that job and now it is incumbent on him to produce.

You sound like all you know is SMU's record and frick all about how bad the situation was when he came in or what all is happening on the team this year.

He's actually doing just fine at SMU right now.

Jones won there before he retired on the job.

He should prove it then.

I could get down with Morris, but I don't think he has the qualifications LSU is looking for

Which is why SMU is in their current shite situation talent wise.

He literately refused to visit any high schools and instead expected kids to send him tapes to review before he considered offering them.

It's going to take a few years to fix what June did.

Ithink chad morris would be a candidate if he ha another year or two at smu, probably get them back to a winning record and a bowl game in that time. Just hasnt been given quite enough time to prove himself yet.

Or you could just quote what you want me to see.

Which post? The one about June getting to 8-5? If that's the one it really does prove how little you know about what happened w/June at SMU.

I don't disagree but LSU can't hire Morris based on the assumption he'll turn SMU around in the future. If some Kansas or Vandy level P5 school wants to hire him away from SMU based on his assistant work so be it but not this job.

I think we are talking about two different things.

I'm more jsut saying Morris is doing a good job at SMU right now regardless of his record.

It would be surprising if a school like LSU hired him at this juncture but using SMU's record as a reason against him is a poor one.

IMO he is angling to take over for Sumlin in the future anyway seeing as he is an Aggie.

I believe he's a good coach but needs to show more before getting a job like LSU's

I agree, but you have to be prepared to not get Herman if Texas fires strong, there is 0 chance he turns them down, its his dream job...
