Does Pepperdine even have a football team?
He cant drive his new benz down the Pac Hwy looking at the surf to the campus?
He will have a hard time doing that in the dark. Malibu to South Central Los Angeles on a workday would not be a fun drive.

I think the main things that USC would have to offer that LSU doesn't is an easier path to the playoffs, and a chance (if they get things rolling like Pete Carroll did) to be the dominant team in their league in the way that no SEC team really can offer (even Bama is constantly looking over its shoulder). Beyond that, any top tier SEC school can match (or beat) what SC will offer in the way of money, and LSU's recruiting territory is just fine.

I don't think SC will be in the Herman sweepstakes. I wish it were easy to get rid of Helton, but Haden gave him a guaranteed 5yr contract. SC would have to finish with 1 or 2 wins for this to be even remotely possible.

in all seriousness, we can't win a bidding war with USC...money wise or intangible wise

We would pay more because they would not enter a bidding war. They won't pay SEC rates for a coach, or they haven't in the past.

What makes you feel that LSU will not pay that amount of money. In order to pull Herman or Jimbo away from where they are, you better offer at least 6 mill a year. If not you are going to find it hard to find a top notch coach. USC has never paid there coaches a lot of money.

Anything can happen but if Herman makes 3.1 unless UH gives him a 3 million dollar raise LSU is not going to offer 6 million. Jimbo is making 5. He would take 5 million the same as he makes at FSU so that he can get his assistants more money which LSU does do pay assistants FSU not so much.
