What makes you feel that LSU will not pay that amount of money. In order to pull Herman or Jimbo away from where they are, you better offer at least 6 mill a year. If not you are going to find it hard to find a top notch coach. USC has never paid there coaches a lot of money.

5 mil in BR, you're filthy rich. 5 mil in Malibu, you're lower middle class.

He's been a USC fan since the Pete Carol days. Not surprised.

USC is not what it was. 95% of USC/UCLA fans did not attend either school. There was no NFL team there when Carroll was there. USC was their NFL team.

Now with the Rams (and maybe another) team in a West Coast version of Jerry World as their home, I think CFB will take a serious back seat. Not to mention the 2024 Olympics.

The Rose Bowl and LA Coliseum are dumps from the 1930s. The casual fan will jump to the NFL.

LSU is a much better job between the two, and can outbid USC for any coach. Plus assistants out at USC would be living in relative poverty out in SoCal vs in BR.

If usc is open they will have the pick of the litter. I've heard they want a pro style / nfl coach though so Herman might not be on their radar.

Exactly. If USC was such a prominent place, why have they only gotten shite sandwich hires?

Herman has coached in Texas for most of his career, which is right next door to Louisiana. His old college roommate is the DC at LSU, and LSU can match USC on everything except for prestige.

Yeah, see, it's really not viewed that way anymore by anyone under the age of 40. They are living off old commodities just like Notre shite

Notre Dame and USC have had very different success the last 16 years. As someone under 40...I know what USC can be when things are done right.

the 2024 olympics will have no bearing on Hermans decision.

regarding the rest of what you said, some of it is reasonable regarding cost of living, but you disregard quality of life in SoCal vs. BR (to an outsider, certainly some single person could prefer the south / BR over California) and calling LSU a "much better job" is a stretch IMO.

USC has the same problem as Texas has now IMO. They have too many boosters with too much say that get in the way of actually producing on the field. If he goes to LSU he won't have near the amount of handcuffs as he would at USC.
Also, doesn't LSU have much more revenue compared to USCw? I don't see how they can outbid LSU if LSU is prepared to shell out the money it takes.
I think Alleva is no where near as bad as the ridiculousness up there. I mean, they didn't hire their most successful coach in Bebe to hire the train wrecks they have now.
I would still rank LSU ahead of the pack; however, it's close enough to at least say we are competing with them.
Overall, I'm not that worried because of the SUPREME incompetence of USC at hiring a coach, but it's still an opponent for the hire.
Of course, Herman may think differently, so we won't know until next year

Am I taking crazy pills or did USC not have an opening last year and not get Herman?
