hiring a guy who's about to get fired is an awesome idea.

I dont post much on here, but I'll join this thread. If LSU has ANY chance at all to land Del Rio...You wait and do what it takes. He has been awesome at whatever position he has had in the NFL. He could coach here for 30 years and be absolutely legendary. Losing a couple of recruits because of "timing" is miniscule in the big picture.

I agree, JDR would be a great hire, and he's certainly at the top of my list. The problem I see though, is not about recruiting, but about who's left if he decides to stay in Jacksonville. What if Garrard gets hot and they make a run to the AFC CG or even the Super Bowl and he gets a shite-ton of money to stay? Who would be left to hire?

You have to get a guarantee from him up front, I'd assume in writing.

Would he do that? Regardless, I suppose we should hope they lose the rest of their games and miss the playoffs, no?

Well, that'll stop him. He's not going to sign something that would be absolutely impossible to get out of. You can get a guarantee and a huge buyout, but if JAX wants him bad enough, they'll pay for him.

We're basically assuming he goes to the Super Bowl and is Nick Saban part 2 for this scenario. Neither is very likely. At some point you have to take people at their word.

I would wait to get Jack Del Rio. He would be incredible with the talent LSU gets year in, year out. I am firmly in the JDR camp. Recruiting will be fine. We are on TV all the time,a top 10 program, and on the rise. The kids will always flock to LSU as long as we keep it rolling. JDR will keep it rolling.

By the way, have you seen the Colts & Patriots this season. The Jags will not make it to the AFC Championship game.
