Everybody keeps talking about how great ________ would be paired with Aranda and while some of them look good; what happens when Aranda leaves in a year or two?? Can that coach pick another great DC? If so why are many of them hanging on to avg or below avg DCs??

And while we believe our program is a top 5, why would a top 5 coach be told who he HAS to keep? I would hope he is smart enough to want our best coaches, but putting a requirement on a guy.....you might be eliminating a great coach. Those guys want control, not to be a puppet.

Any HC that DOESN'T want Dave Aranda needs to turn in his whistle and become a greeter at Walmart. Seriously!

In regards to Aranda, I agree. What idiot wouldn't want him.

But all these names like Fedora, Gundy, and even Fisher to a degree. Why do they have sub par DCs?? Hell FSU just gave their DC a raise and he is nothing special. I think they need to explain in the interview why they keep an avg DC on their staff

Never underestimate how loyal most coaches are to their own people... That said, if the job comes with a requirement to retain Aranda, no one in their right mind would turn him away

For many coaches, even jimbo, the assistants aren't paid NEARLY as well as they would be with other schools.

Look at Pruitt. Won a championship in 2013 but FSU wouldn't pay him to stay.

We wouldn't have that problem here.

This. Top notch coordinators cost money. Many big name head coaches eat up a huge chunk of the budget for coaches and staff members so coordinators become tough to get. You can see a perfect example of this with Dave Aranda himself. Wisconsin couldn't, or wouldn't, match what LSU had on the table. It's a similar situation with most programs.

FSU has the 7th highest paid assistants salary in college football.... While we pay a lot more, it's not like they don't pay well.

Still not as much as LSU. Good coordinators usually have to go the NFL ranks to get the kind of money LSU forks out for them. So there's a shortage of really good coordinators in college.
