Chip Kelly coaching in the South

A lot of negative about Shaw when his name was brought up a few weeks ago about him never recruiting/coaching in the South.
Is Chip such a homerun hire this doesn't matter? I know he got a few players out of TX but that's as much as I know.

willie lyles is revving up that engine to prepare for chip's arrival.

Chip would be fine in the south. Things would actually be easier for him than at Oregon.
Just like lsu did with saban they would let him do what he wants.

Will end up out West where all of his ties are. Why come here when USC, Oregon, etc are offering.

What ties are those besides 6 years coaching in Oregon?
The guy recruited nationally and isn't from the west.

Agreed. He's a NE guy, if anything.
Career history
As coach:
Nevada (1988–1989) Conditioning Coach
Columbia (1990) Defensive backs coach & special teams coach
Columbia (1991) Outside linebackers coach & safeties coach
New Hampshire (1992) Running backs coach
Johns Hopkins (1993) Defensive coordinator
New Hampshire (1994–1996) Running backs coach
New Hampshire (1997–1998) Offensive line coach
New Hampshire (1999–2006) Offensive coordinator
Oregon (2007–2008) Offensive coordinator
Oregon (2009–2012) Head coach
Philadelphia Eagles (2013–2015) Head coach
San Francisco 49ers (2016–present) Head coach
I wasn't aware that he was a DC for a year. That's pretty damn impressive TBH

He was a QB in high school and a defensive back in college.

He is the type of coach that would succeed anywhere.

I think so. Would love to see what he could do at LSU. Not saying it's a sure bet...but it would definitely be exciting.

That's ideally the guy you shot for. His football acumen is unquestioned.

Chip at LSU would be scary. He's not going anywhere thou. He went to SF knowing that it's a huge rebuilding project. He'll be there for a few years.

Im not opposed to chip, but his recruiting focus does concern me.

This is a stupid argument.
Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Les Miles.
Guess who the best coaches and recruiters were when the above guys were coaching together in the SEC. Now, guess where they were from and where they had coached previously.
The closest to even coaching in the SEC was Les at Oklahoma State.

I can't see how people dont see this. It's a GRAND SLAM hire. If you get a chance, you do it and dont hesitate.
Plus, so many people's goal is to beat Bama...Chip's offense could do that.

Chip Kelly is a POS & his leaving the Ducks was very much a mutual agreement. According to a lengthy article in S.I. he hates recruiting & having to suck up to the big shot boosters. If you recall, more than a few of his players were POS, too. His players in Philly hated his guts, as did most of team administrators. Chip's offense may be great but it would put his defenses on the field way too long for the big boys in the conference. With one of his best teams, LSU put up 40 or so & if not for a last minute score against the second team, LSU would have held his powerful offense to 20 points. AU shut down that offense as well in winning the NC. Not NO but HELL NO.

Link to these names please.

This is as close as we get to the bama hire of Saban. Chip Kelly is the only cant miss choice that LSU can make. Give him whatever he wants... do it...NOW...and dont look back.

Worst of all he doesn't have a Cajun accent.

I agree, but let's consider the hottest/successful college coaches at the moment:
- Nick Saban
- Urban Myer
- Bobby Petrino
- Jim Harbaugh
It almost seems like you need a POS as the HQ to have a successful program...
