Agree with everything you said. This guy was excellent on those championship Florida teams and turned Louisville around from that 3 year crap hole Kragthorpe put them in. He won one less game in 2 years that Krags won in 3. Then went 23-3 his next two years. Sent a lot of players to the NFL in that short time.

He beat Al Golden's best team (9-3 regular season) and Miami's best team since 2009, 36-9. The year prior he beat Muschamp's best team (11-1 regular season) and Florida's best team since 2009, 33-23.

He needs to go to Miami. I really feel like he could put them back on the map.

clearly there are some deep cultural issues at Utexas, but to this point Strong seems like a terrible fit.

Agreed.

I always thought Strong was a good coach and wanted him at Arkansas before Bielema's hiring was announced, but I was shocked when he got the Texas job because it seemed like a terrible fit.

Allegedly he's a terrible interviewer (in terms of jobs) and can be fairly salty and no-nonsense behind the scenes, and it's an odd fit because the Texas boosters are obsessed with access. They don't want an autocrat, they want a politician, and Mack Brown played that role perfectly.

If I'm Strong, I beg for the Miami or USCe job and take whatever they offer. He'd be a moron for passing on good jobs for a lame duck year with boosters and a fan base who hate him.

I don't recall an actual number being thrown out.

Handed Oklahoma their only loss this season (thus far). That buys him another year

I don't know why, the program has not improved at all; one good win, but a pathetic season AGAIN, tells me he should be fired today!!

I love that more than anything...

But another issue, Strong is becoming almost as much a lame duck as Les Miles, but at least Miles has a stellar recruiting class coming in, Strong is losing out in the state of Texas for recruits in a big way.

Ny times and ESPN both reported a 10yr 100 mm plus piece of longhorn network. The Times article was most in depth.

Saban doesnt want ut. Stop being delusional.

Strong will get canned next year and Texas will swing for the fences and miss again.

Saban might listen. Texas has more money than any other institution I can think of.

But Herman wouldn't be a bad consolation prize if Saban doesn't want it

Maybe so. I really think Saban would've taken the job until Brown threw his tantrum and things got messy. $10M is a lot more than he makes now.

Bama would match 10M

Texas has a lot more money, but that difference is meaningless when we're talking about coaches' salaries. They would have to go to like 50M which is beyond insane.

So far, Herman looks like a great up-and-coming coach -- the problem is that Texas goes after established coaches and not young upstarts.

I don't agree with that position, but that seems to be the mindset of the UT Admins/big boosters.

Strong is a good coach. He walked into a dumpster fire in Austin. It was always going to take a few years to fix it.

The people in Austin have treated Strong like absolute filth.

Because of the boosters and fanbase, I wonder why any coach would really want to go work at UT Austin.

They are going to let him go for Saban if they can make that happen. They are working on it again.

Grass isn't always greener on the other side huh Charlie? Shame you left us. Sugar Bowl victory, being paid damn well, moving into the ACC, fans and players loved him, the AD loved him....You had a great thing going here. Oh well
