Canada has a good track record, but the best thing about it IMO is that he has done it under head coaches that came from a defensive background,

Narduzzi, Bret, Doeren all were DCs.

A lot of the other offensive coordinators are working for coaches that are offensive minded, you never know if they will be able to effectively manage and implement and offense standing on their own two feet.

I am happy with the hire, I think he will bring balance and at least have the ability to attack defensives differently with multiple looks.

I'm more excited for what he's done with his QBs.

He's also taken over some shitty situations. He hasn't moved in on high powered offenses.

I agree. After he was fired by Wisconsin, he picked himself up off the mat and got a job at NC State. Then when he was fired by NC State, he dusted himself off and got a job at Pitt. He is relentless, with dogged determination.

Who fired him and had their offense fall off a cliff, going from 33 pts a game to 25 (oh, and they had their record get worse too, btw)

where he led the team to the highest offensive production in their history.

Remember that time we fired an OC to hire Cam Cameron. Yeah, me too. Sometimes staffs do stupid shite.

Totally agree. this is the guy I was hoping we would get, fantastic hire. Can't wait to see what LSU does in the next couple of seasons.

Good point, and even better, the defensive minded coaches he has worked for MIGHT very well have limited him to some degree (e.g., the report that Bielema limited him at Wisconsin).

We finally have what I have wanted for years - a power based offense that uses a lot of deception and misdirection to keep the defense from having lightning fast reads on each play, and an offensive coach who is adaptable and flexible in his scheme.

Needless to say, I'm happy.

Pitt lost 4 games this year. He averaged scoring 34.5 points per game for the 4 losses. He needed some help from a competent defensive coordinator.

LSU has one of those.

How is his QB development?

While I agree, Narduzzi is about as good of a defensive minded coach as their is, one of the problems with a high scoring offense is a tired defense. That is why you see these high scoring games. The ability to slow a game down is something I hope we never lose, I am in the minority here but I don't want one defensive stop or turnover to decide a game like so many of the high flying teams depend on.

He wasn't fired by Wisconsin. Bielema left.

this is the main thing i love about Aranda. you look at his background and there is nothing fricking there, no defensive guru for him to mimic. hes a guy who figured everything out on his own, bit by bit, play by play, which is why his defense is unlike anything else.

And I think it plays out on not getting frozen when things go to shite, they have a lot of experience getting their way out of their own messes, they cant just get a bump from the head coach on the right direction to head.

Pitt averaged 6.7 yards per play this year. Their defense giving up points was not because the offense was quick-strike and they got tired. Most of Canada's plays are high-percentage short-yardage. They just don't have elite talent on defense like we do.
