Why don't we ask Pitt fans how good of a recruiter he is?

Probably not a great recruiter, but who knows.

Canada is not the best recruiter and isnt very involved with Pitt recruiting except for the QBs

Also look at this....this isnt just from his time at Pitt. Its all time:

basically over his entire career his best recruit he has credit for bringing in would rank 2nd lowest on our current commit list. let that sink in.

You also need to consider where he is recruiting. NCST and Pitt aren't really high demand schools.

Yeah, difficult to translate Pitt recruiting to LSU. Although Pennsylvania is a VERY talented state. Their talent pool is what made Penn state.

Frankly, I'm not ecstatic about the hire, but this is one I'll be rooting for, and maybe it's true that he just hasn't been allowed proper freedom ....but his career moves make me HIGHLY suspect.

my thing is if you look at pitt recruits...he isnt even listed as a lead recruiter on any of them except the QB.

Thanks for the info and that sums it up. Canada is not directly involved in recruiting at Pitt. His name did not show up in the top 500 coaches. He basically has no recruiting experience. I find this very weird that as an OC he didn't do what all other OCs do and that's recruit. Even if he came to LSU, would he actually recruit talent if that's not what he has really ever done?

Well, if he wants to be a HC like others have said, he's going to have to learn. Maybe O can impart some things on him.

Can we end this thread now with this simple statement:

"Chavis didn't recruit either"

Canada is following Akres and Narcisse on Twitter but not Brennan. Probably don't mean shite but thought I would add

Exactly. We have to do both. Miles & staff were excellent recruiters but terrible on offense x/o's.

Canada and Aranda's job is x/o's. We can use them in recruiting like we are using Aranda now... "come to LSU where you can play under a mastermind OC/DC and get developed for the NFL." They will also be involved in the recruiting process and make visits with a staff 'crooter (instead of sitting on your arse like Chavis). This will be awesome and the talent will come.

I'm not sure how Miles was able to keep up elite recruiting for so long... kids will see if your x/o's suck and they won't want to come. It's not a one-way proposition (what we had under Miles was an aberration that won't happen again).

Coach O's job is to make sure we stay elite in recruiting, and take care of making sure our staff is full of good recruiters. If we fall off, our fans will see and he will get roasted.

I hope we get Canada in a morning presser today. I wanted an offensive guru HC like most on here, but the CEO style can work as long as you get good OCs and DCs, and keep recruiting at an elite level. Things are looking good for LSU for next year.

Lsu has the most players in the NFL. How were they underdeveloped? Consider bama has had the #1 recruiting class, 8 years running and they don't have the most players in the NFL? Interesting

It's harder to recruit when you're trying to sell dog sh*% i.e. PITT.

Between 2010-2016, PITT had (15) 4 stars.

Same ERA for LSU? (86) 4 stars.

He'll be fine you sissy mofos.

one time a great college coach said "Isa bes a gret couch causa if youa be a takne mines and eyes be a tekn yurns Isa stil a bes a wernin"(if we switch players I will still win) . That coach was Bear Bryant. Do you really think that applies to Saben?

There is no doubt in my mind that if Saban was our coach we win it all in 2011 and 2013.

You just proved the point that LSU PLAYERS didn't reach potential under Miles thus the lack of crystal compared to Bama.

On-field performance is the biggest recruiting tool there is. Maybe Canada isn't much of a recruiter right now, but if he can produce results on the field next season, I'd bet he gets a lot better.
