Nobody really thought FSU was just gonna roll over or that Sexton wasn't gonna get his money did they? We're talking about Jimmy fricking Sexton. He's gonna get the most money he possibly can. I wouldn't expect an answer from Jimbo for a while unless one of the school offers crazy money.

Recruits aren't going to buy that he'll be here for 4 years.
Coordinators who could come in aren't going to uproot for a possible 1 year deal etc.
IMO, once you start the ball rolling you have to go with it for better or for worse, because if you don't, you are toast anyways.
