I personally know Gary Crowton and sometimes it is time to move in another direction. If he does leave I would hope he lands on his feet and gets a good job somewhere else. I am grateful for that National Championship game which was called by him and brilliant.

Somehow, lost in all of this is that the league demands more than our offense can give us right now and if Coach Miles thinks it is best for LSU to release Crowton, then that is fine with me. I sometimes think we do not know the depth of our lack of talent at QB the last several years.

Lagdon you're correct. We're been real weak in the QB dept and have been that way since Matt Flynn graduated.

I know that sentiment is shared by some on staff and the reason why Crowton has been retained and may be around in 2011.....

That isn't really any consolation to the fanbase considering Crowton is the QB coach as well.

I call BS.

A post you made after the Arky loss didn't sound so supportive:

"Crowton will be gone but that was the worst tackeling I have ever seen at LSU. Our offense was horrible. You cannot win in the SEC with defense alone, the new offenses are taking over. Miles better get it and get it quick." LINK

JL and JJ are not walk ons. They were 4* QB's ranked #6 and #8 Pro-style QB's respectively the year they signed with LSU. Crowton's job was to develop them. He isn't being asked to make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

Why wait til after the bowl? That'd be 15 wasted practices trying to master this clusterfrick offense that hasnt worked all year.

I could buy into that and possibly be for Crowton staying if the LSU issues the last few years were the only history we had to assess Crowtin on. Unfortunately, what has happened at LSU is nothing new for Crowton. Dude definitely has a trend everywhere he goes.

ETA: If we don't fix the problem this year, I can just hear it next year: Mett is just starting to really learn the system, and we don't want to screw up his progress by forcing him to learn a new offense. This year is the right time to make a move.

Dude, those dudes are chicken shite, it doesn't matter what they were ranked coming out of high school. Mentally, they are just weak. Crowton could have probably done a better job with them, but he's no miracle worker. They just aren't very good QBs.

They suck, but as OC and QB coach, doesn't he have a say in who we recruit at QB? Chris Garrett was fat and lazy, JJ and JLee suck,....he hasn't improved them at all! In fact they have gotten worse, at least JJ has.
Crowton blows, plain and simple, I don't care how bad they were, to throw for less TDs than Army is obsurd.

Most of JJ and Lee's technical problems are things that can be solved with coaching. They have pretty good arms, but have bad footwork, trouble going through their reads, and poor pocket presence.

Going through reads isn't something that can be taught,....either a QB can think quickly enough and make quick decisions or he panics and holds the ball or stares down his receivers,..ie JLee and JJ

So when the Cotton Bowl comes and goes, how much time must pass before people finally accept that Crowton isn't going anywhere?

People will speculate until a change happens or Les says Crowton is staying. There were rumors up until early January this year that Crowton was gone until Les finally said he was staying.

I think we need a new rumor that Miles is gone, and Crowton is going to be promoted to HC. It's probably as valid as any other speculation we have heard.

My guess is that Crowton is going to be back.

Wrong. It can be taught and is taught all across the country by competent QB coaches & OC's from every level of football. The rest of your post I agree with but going through reads IS something that is taught.
