Translation: Gus to Texas....he gone.

(Did I do that right? Been trying to take notes in all the Saban to Texas threads)

LSU/La is almost a Floyd Mayweather lb for lb..

Sure, we're Bama's bitch, so is all of NCAA Football, except The Bear vs UT/ND.

Texas has the last fifty-plus years of letting sparse barren Oklahoma and Nebraska, beat them over their head with their own natives..

Yes, there are plenty of schools and competition for the Texas athletes. But, you have to sorta understand Bama, Aub, LSU, OU, Neb,etc..being perplexed at a school with such a massive talented populace, seemingly underachieve in terms of Hardware Hauls, when in contrast to the maximum possibilities.

Hell, the way the MB exit was handled was soft, not large-and-in-charge, and had no more nor no less class, than if were done more succinctly. Did it cost Texas Saban as HC?

And the field already has a name. Jimbo and Nick will always be in someone else's shadow.

Horns247 has learned that we can eliminate one name from a list of prospective coaches – Auburn's Gus Malzahn

The way things are going, this probably means he's the top candidate..

he says Briles and Fisher are the top 2 names

I'd be surprised if Fisher left, that just seems unreal to me at this point. Your first year with a new defensive staff at FSU resulted in a BCSCG appearance, so even if you're slightly unhappy, you make it work.

Briles just doesn't really seem like a "fit" in my head, but he's good. I don't know, I just see them going in a different direction.

Everybody should be concerned though. UT is not aimlessly conducting this search. My thoughts are that somebody has already been marked and accepted the job. Just seems like they're waiting to coach their last game with their current team before sneaking out the backdoor. The question is who?

Well, can't say we didn't try to tell everyone...

Gus Malzahn was never going to Texas. He declined them.

Also seems like that last game must hold some importance or why the delay? Just a plain NYD bowl wouldn't seem to demand any special delay.

They do not seem to be in a hurry so that tells me they already have a deal in place......a coach is making the move and I'd say its one of these 4:

Saban
Briles
Fisher
Miles(dark horse)

Watch them get none of those guys, again, yet claim they got their #1 overall choice, again. History has a funny way of repeating itself.

Waiting for the Sudden Stroke you're going to have when they make a home run hire.

Saban Briles Fisher Miles(dark horse)

Why do some assume Texas wants Saban so bad? He's a great coach, but he also will turn 63 during the coming season. He may coach into his 70ies, but he may also be done in two or three years. I would think Texas would want a younger guy.

Fisher has looked like a better bet from the beginning.

This does not shock me one bit. The West will have to deal with him for years to come.

My buddy that works at FSU for Fisher hasn't heard the first word about it. He's about as low on the totem pole as it gets right now, but when I talked to him about it a couple days ago while he was home for Christmas, he was shocked that Jimbo was even seriously considered a candidate.

Pretty sure he was eliminated when he signed the extension...
