@SportsInsights: On 9/28 Art Briles was +5000 to become LSU's next head coach. He is currently +1500 be the Tigers' next coach (via Bookmaker).

Vegas usually wins, but I just don't see that happening.

Petrino has a better chance. Briles' "offense is too fresh and very un-PC"!

From a purely coaching standpoint it would be a grand slam. He is one of the best coaches alive today.

Not sure that's enough to overcome what would come with him though.

Petrino is younger, a better scheme fit for LSU, and what he did was way less bad

Well, it was mentioned to me by the same person who told me about miles before the news hit the wire that Briles was being brought in as offensive consultant for this year

In that capacity it would be perfect. You would get his mind on the staff but he wouldn't be on the sidelines for media to bash relentlessly

So you shouldn't trust that person's info anymore.

I believe it was what he didn't do that has drawn the ire of people.

I took it more as Lsu has had conversations with Briles. Things can be attempted but not happened. Ie jimbo last year.

Everybody gets on DALSU or whatever his name was. He was giving good info. Just because it failed in the end or the plug was pulled doesn't mean info wasn't top notch

I think he learned his lesson. LSU should give him a second chance

You can also just want to believe.

I agree, besides people keep saying it's too soon... look someone is going to hire him be it now or 2 years from now. He will still have the same baggage, and still be the same man. Might as well get him now before someone else does, winning will change the media narrative after a few weeks, just like it has done for Petrino, who I would also like by the way.

I agree. Can be just want to believe. However when you take other things into account. Like now everybody and their mother have Lsu connected with Jimbo. Is that because of DALSU on tigerdroppings or because something really was happening. With Briles, now vegas line drops. Nobody is more informed than vegas.

Take a rumor, find some evidence even if circumstantial and make a EDUCATED guess on what is happening in a room you are not in

Double agreement on both. But Briles is more toxic and has had much less time to dissipate. Don't think a SEC AD would touch him for a year or two!

My point exactly, I don't see the point in waiting if you would hire him anyway. The narrative won't change, and because of the nature of his offenses the backlash will be the same. Might as well deal with it now.
