I want Napier to be successful (just not at FLA). He's making a lot of mistakes early though, IMO.

I think he is hiring people who he trusts and knows what it took to get ULL where it is at now. They are trying to change the culture there and if many have been working together they know exactly the plan and their role. No reason to go get a bunch of SEC retreads or whoever “just because”.

Interesting perspective. Yet there are some criticizing Kelly bc he’s also looking at people he has worked with before.
If LSU had hired Napier and proceeded to just bring his ULL staff, I wonder how those folks would feel about that.
Seems like all are not held to the same standard on this board

Nice try, but there is a big difference between stealing coaches away from Notre-fricking Dame and hiring a staff from ULL. Shouldn't have to state the obvious. He may do fine, but this is a worrisome start for Napier.

Exactly. I still say one of the things that fricked Scott frost at Nebraska was bringing his entire ucf staff instead of evaluating who could actually hang in the big 10

I guess I worded that poorly. We actually agree. I was saying those defending Napier are same folks bashing Kelly for hiring people he knows or has worked with

This is stupid, Kelly is hiring coaches from other top college jobs or the NFL, or guys who have renowned within the industry, and these are guys within his personal coaching circle. Napier is hiring guys from ULL because he doesn't have the network Kelly does.

His on-field staff will have 3/10 coaches who he brought from UL.
He has hired coaches whose latest stops were at Michigan State, USCw, and LSU.
He will fill the rest of the openings with:
Karl Scott (Vikings)
Eric Henderson (LA Rams)
Rob Sale (Giants)
Chris Rumph (Bears)
Sounds like top college jobs (- MSU) or the NFL to me.
