Below seems to be a well-put-together list. Who do you like?
LINK
16. Chip Lindsey, Arizona State
15. Eli Drinkwitz, NC State
14. Major Applewhite, Houston
13. Matt Lubick, Oregon
12. Jake Spavital, Cal
11. Tee Martin, USC
10. Mike Bloomgren, Stanford
9. Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott, Clemson
8. Sterlin Gilbert, Texas
7. Ed Warinner, Ohio State
6. Joe Moorhead, Penn State
5. Sonny Cumbie, TCU
4. Tim Drevno, Michigan
3. Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma
2. Mike Sanford, Notre Dame
1. Lane Kiffin, Alabama
Names that caught my eye:
Eli Drinkwitz, NC State
- Matt Canada at Pitt was fired from NC State and they hired this guy. NC State's offense was more than productive this season with much less talent than Pitt. I don't know much about this guy, but Canada did a good job at Pitt and NC State liked this guy more. Might be surprising to see him on this list but there must be a reason. Not coming to LSU but he seems to have a bright future in front of him.
Major Applewhite
- Would be interesting if LSU didn't get Herman but hired his OC. Of course, he's also from Baton Rouge. I'd imagine LSU is fully aware of him I read he is involved in some UT lawsuit that makes it difficult for him to follow Herman there. If Houston doesn't hire him- - does LSU go after him?
Tee Martin
- Would he want to return to SEC country? He also makes me wonder what kind of OC Dameyune Craig would make.
Sterlin Gilbert
- Texas had its ups and downs on offense this year. Would be an interesting name to be associated with the LSU job though.
Ed Warinner
- I haven't been impressed with Ohio St this year.
Joe Moorhead, Penn State
- Don't know much about him. Read somewhere that Penn State fans think he's one of the best in the country. Penn State had a very strong season. Probably wouldn't leave but he just may be one of the best options out there.
Lincoln Riley
- Oklahoma has a good offense. Has almost always had one though. Playing in the Big 12 helps a lot. Most teams would probably be happy having him- including LSU.
Lane Kiffin
-I'm pretty sure Orgeron agrees with the #1 ranking. But this also means he probably won't be at LSU long.

Riley will be getting as serious HC interest as Kiffin, and soon. Sterlin Gilbert is an interesting choice - I'd be curious to see what he could do with our talent, but against the SEC defenses we face.
I'm not a big fan of Kiffin, but he's a proven commodity in our league. I think Sark or Briles would be better than Kiffin and have no more baggage (and all are terribly flawed, no question).
Applewhite is another interesting choice - hometown kid, overlooked by LSU in high school - how much did he absorb? And I must be getting old, because Applewhite is damned near 40. If we can't get Kiffin, Sark OR Briles, I'm tempted to give Applewhite a shot as co-OC with Ensminger, at the very least - maybe give him the QB coach tag.

LSU needs to hire Art Briles as OC. He'd take the job in a minute, and I can't think of a better fit for someone to guide O through the HC transition and to run a dynamic, balanced offense.

I really want one of the Veer and Shoot guys. Gilbert, Briles (Kendall), Montgomery (though he is a current HC) are on my list.

Is the NCAA now doing a recruiting investigation with Kendall Briles? I'd stay away from Baylor.

I think Kendall is in the clear in all of this, his father on the other hand...

If not, Tee Martin is actually intriguing since they switched to a more Pro Spread since Helton took over at SC.

I'm glad to know that winning football games is more important to you than widespread rape.

Amen! The amount of people that are suggesting Art Briles is downright scary.

Applewhite moved to BR in 7th grade, and grew-up a huge bama fan. He wasn't overlooked by LSU; he simply never considered LSU bc we were god-awful at the time. Regardless, he's a very smart guy and I'm sure he's learned a ton under Herman. I think he'd do well here.

Who did Art Briles rape and what did he actually cover up?
As far as I know, he is facing zero criminal charges and zero NCAA sanctions.
He took on some questionable characters and gave players more chances than they probably deserved, but that's what you need to do if you want to win at a school like Baylor.

Personally, I would like to see us go after Applewhite

People think I am crazy for wanting Montgomery. His salary is $800,000 from what I can find on the Internet. Offer him a $1.2 million raise and see if he takes it.

What about Matt Canada from Pittsburgh?
Posted on 11/28/16 at 11:09 am to saint amant steve
The fact they have Sterling Gilbert so high makes that list bullshite

Riley is the only guy on that list that I like.

Major Applewhite
Honest question. How much of Houston's offense was Applewhite and how much was Herman? I liked the Houston offense but would be concerned that most of what was ran was accredited to Tom Herman rather Major Applewhite. Can anyone shed light on that for me? Thanks in advance
