It’s also a sign whether he gets hired or not that DeBoer is listening to the players and those at Alabama who know how things work down south, something I think it took Brian Kelly until this offseason to figure out from an assistant coach perspective.

Nope. One of Kelly’s first acts as HC was to get Wilson back. Kelly knew from jump he must get people on this staff who can recruit Louisiana and the southeast.

Kelly from a broad perspective didn’t retain or attract the kind of guys who built the elite talent base at LSU everyone is accustomed to, which along with Coach O gutting your roster is why your defense looks like it does right now.

I’d argue he’s now bringing in guys like Bo Davis who will fix the issue and your last class is a reflection of that but there is no reasonable argument that would support Kelly having an equivalent recruiting staff to Miles for example until now.

Miles was one of the worst onfield HCs in the country but the guy could stack talent and keep most Louisiana guys home.

I’d argue Kelly is light years better as an actual coach than O or Miles which is why you’ve still had some success, but talent acquisition until this class has been subpar for LSU standards under Kelly.

Flip side for Bama is even Robinson alone won’t get it done on the recruiting trail. To sign those 15 years of top 3 classes took Saban plus 3 or more position guys who could get it done.

But it’s a start and a sign that DeBoer gets it and is listening. It was also a perfect move to force Kirby to **** or get off the pot with Schumann and Robinson. It’s bad enough that he has one of those guys plus Muschamp in the background, Bama and the SEC can’t allow them to have all three.

Looks like he decided to stick with Georgia. Unfortunate for roster retention. Guess they will move on down the line for DC.

Our last class will wind up better than your last class whenever it’s all said & done.

What ? Kelly has recruited Louisiana very well in each year he been at lsu. This is really his 2nd full recruiting class. But I agree Kelly new staff will run circles around bama . Class of 25 starts it

TROB helped with the defense this year, but I think Saban mostly had him working out getting the plays in faster. He wasn’t going to be calling plays at UGA & he wasn’t Saban’s choice to replace Steele… again, could work out but seems like an impulse response.

As for Kelly, he has recruited well.

Yes. House was a miss, but what hurt us more than anything is the turnover we have had at DL coach & that goes back to before kelly. DL Coach this year almost died first week of the season, no lie.

We been calling Pete Jenkins out of retirement every damn year . There’s a reason we went out and got TWO million dollar DL coaches.

There is so much that’s factually incorrect in your post about Kelly and LSU (and you threw in Miles for some reason?) it’s not worth it to go point by point.

Bottom line: Kelly realized from day one he needed to lock down Louisiana talent and made moves to do just that. The results speak to this (and he’s got better recruiting classes than Orgeron in his first two years).

Deboer needs to do the same in Alabama if he has hope of being successful there.

Travaris Robinson interviewed with new @AlabamaFTBL coach Kalen DeBoer for several hours Sunday for the defensive coordinator job, but has decided to remain at Georgia, sources tell ESPN.

That will be a big win for Bama if they get him back.

For recruiting... Look up his DC stats at South Carolina

What Chris Lowe meant to say was…….After many hours interviewing with DeBoer, T-Rob realized DeBoer is not Saban and said freak all of that.

Outside of recruiting Bama dodged a bullet. No way T-Rob should ever be a DC.
