I really liked Nuss as a playcaller, how he got Saban to sign off on a deep ball down the sidelines in the Auburn game on 3rd and 1 from the 1 amazed me.
I think where he fell short is that we are screwed at QB right now. Right or wrong, AJ didn't improve any this year from last year, and we certainly don't seem to have another QB on campus that is poised to run our offense next year.
Get me an OC who can develop the QB and I'll be happy.
I don't think there was a drop off from McElwain to Nuss, but we've got to get someone on campus who can develop a starting QB right now.
