even when it isn't an open position
this stems from the whole mitchell robinson decommitment from WKU
TLDR; read the bold print
from Jerry Meyer of 247

There was plenty of smoke rising above Western Kentucky signee Mitchell Robinson on Tuesday morning after two messages claiming he was decommitting from the Hilltoppers were posted and then shortly deleted from his Twitter account.
As Brad Stephens of the Bowling Green Daily News reported, at 12:54 a.m. on Tuesday, Robinson’s Twitter account @kodamitach23 posted:
“After careful consideration,I have decided to DECOMMIT from the University of Western Kentucky and explore my options this only happens once.”
During the night that post was deleted, but then at 7:06 a.m. Tuesday came another decommitment post:
“After careful consideration, I have decided to DECOMMIT from the University of Western Kentucky and explore my options!”
Given that Robinson is a five-star recruit and the No. 6 player in the 247Sports Composite, the Twitter activity made waves.
As Western Kentucky head coach Rick Stansbury pointed out hours later at his press conference, these tweets are odd since Robinson signed a National Letter of Intent with Western Kentucky on November 15. He is bound now to the university and does not have the freedom to decommit. Robinson would have to be released from his Letter of Intent.
Stansbury went on to say that Robinson’s father claimed his son’s Twitter account was hacked and that Mitchell had nothing to do with the tweets.
Regardless of the origin and nature of these tweets, I believe Robinson, an athletic 7-footer, is firmly committed to Stansbury. But there's a catch.
Robinson, while still an under the radar prospect, originally committed to Texas A&M when Stansbury was an assistant there. Then Stansbury took the head coaching job at Western Kentucky on March 28. A month later Robinson decommitted from Texas A&M.
On June 22, Robinson’s godfather Shammond Williams was hired as an assistant coach under Stansbury. A week later Robinson committed to Western Kentucky.
So I don’t think for a second that Robinson won’t be playing for Rick Stansbury and his staff next year.
The question, however, is whether Robinson will be playing for him at Western Kentucky.
Multiple sources have indicated that Stansbury "is doing everything he can" to land the LSU job, which is obviously not open. Current LSU coach Johnny Jones is squarely on the hot seat as his fifth year begins, having taken the Tigers to the NCAA tournament just once since the 2012-13 season. With the eyes of the college basketball world on Baton Rouge last season with the signing of No. 1 recruit (and future No. 1 NBA pick) Ben Simmons, the Tigers crashed and burned, finishing with a 19-14 record despite being a preseason Top25 team.
Stansbury had a stretch of success as a head coach at Mississippi State and stayed in the SEC as an assistant at Texas A&M. Has strong connections in the league and very much has his eye on the LSU job.
Robinson is from Chalmette, Louisiana, and LSU was the other finalist in his second recruitment against Western Kentucky. Another Western Kentucky signee Josh Anderson is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
And former New Orleans high school star Quannas White is an assistant coach for Stansbury. White came to Western Kentucky after directing the Louisiana Dynasty AAU program for eight years.

I wouldn't hate it. Unquestionably an upgrade

I'd take Pat Summit's son over Johnny Jones at this point.

Ponamsky and Alleva are going to go straight to the source and hire Collis Temple Jr. or bring back Daddy Dale.

Hell yeah...let's just make it a requirement that every head coach at LSU must be from the great state of Louisiana.

let's hope they keep it in house for the next hire again. we're good at doing that.

Kent Lowe for LSU men's basketball coach

What does Johnny Jones contract look like?

I would gladly take Stansbury over JJ.
Rick had 3 losing SEC seasons in 14 years. Got them to the tourney 6 times, NIT 5 times. Is a great recruiter, and MSU sucks to go to.
He'd be great here.

Alleva's new coach credentials:
(x) wants the job
( ) has a binder
We'll have to see how his interview goes

John Brady would be an upgrade. Doesn't mean it would be a good hire.
