I am not asking why would Miles consider any of these schools but why aren't any of them seriously considering him? You don't think every school knows the relationship with he and the admins/boosters is somewhat strained at this time? And they also know his salary is relatively low. Every school thinks theirs is the better job so why aren't they giving him their pitch?

My inside super top secret agent orange source said the only school that has called is Pierre Part Middle.

Les was top 10 in pay last year, which is above any program with a current opening:

He's the 9th highest paid coach in CFB. Most programs don't have that much cash to throw around.

Nope. We just went two weeks of people saying he should go or he should stay. Mostly opinions from fans and media. Always heard the true gauge of how good a coach was is to look at who else wants him. We do this with recruits don't we? Texas made a run at Saban so the word was. Why wouldn't USCw or UGA, the top spots this year, do the same if they thought Miles was what he was made out to be by the media and fans? I just want another gauge of Miles than just fans and media.

And look how that turned out.

Because they know they cannot get him. It is the same reason they are not chasing Saban, Jim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, Brian Kelly, Sean Payton, etc. They are trying to focus on the best choice from what is realistically available.

Possibly. But that drama is over until at least next year. They know that Les has invested a lot in this program and could be set up for a strong run next year. They also know that Les knows if he wins the SEC, or possibly even the SECW, next year he finishes out his contract regardless of the current state of affairs.

Les is the 9th highest paid coach in the nation.

Seriously? The fan bases, maybe. I don't think the Missouri and S.C. ADs are so delusional that they think they have more to offer than Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USCw, Texas, FSU, UF or even LSU.

Only 300k more than UGA and USCe. Chump change in today's landscape is it not? Heck Freeze makes as much as Miles.

So you don't think that UGA, USCw, or USCe think they could get Miles if they wanted to? Really? Even offering a 1.5 million raise and more short term security? Especially the first two? Interesting. Wonder if BAMA thought they could get Saban from Miami? Why did they even try?

Understood. Not intending to put words in your mouth, it just seemed as though you might have already come to a conclusion that no one else was mentioning.

Who knows the true facts regarding the Michigan rumors, but I venture to say that the Michigan program is OK with how things eventually worked out. Same goes for the hawgs, although most seem to think that was never a serious consideration anyway. I was truly curious to see whether some of the claims by "experts" that Miles wouldn't stay unemployed for two days would prove to be true. I have my doubts unless he accepted a position dramatically beneath what he currently occupies.

Maybe, but the raise you would have to give Miles to come wouldn't be chump change.

Richt made 4 mill. So give Miles 5.5. Think UGA could handle 1.5 mill?

He was willing to start over at 60, what's three years?

USCe, not a chance.
USCw, possibly. According to their message boards last week they were primed to make a run at Miles. This week they have Helton. Either they quietly struck out big names or were not interested in spending. I do not know what happened.
UGA, possibly. And for all we know they inquired with his agent or soon will.

I have no indication that any of these schools want to pay anybody that much, do you? Even though they can I doubt that they would. I do not know what Carroll was making at USC but it did not stop him from going to Seattle.

I do not remember the story there. I think it is a bit different trying to get a college coach out of LSU when he has 11 years invested in the program and is close to the school's all time win record versus trying to get a coach who left college to go to the pros, has less than two years invested and is already on the hot seat with 2 losing seasons. Apples and oranges.

It isn't just Miles though, as Les likes to have one of the if not the highest paid staffs in football.

Georgia could maybe afford it all, but why bother when a native son is sitting on Nick's shelf for cheaper?

So they are looking at hiring a career assistant who has NEVER been a head coach to replace a coach with Richts success? And Richts character and ambassadorship? Weren't we being labeled as mean and unrealistic for what went on the last two weeks? And for trying to get a coach with multiple conference championships and a national championship. Why would a program the status of UGA open themselves up for the beating we took nationally? Maybe I'm not seeing it.

We don't know what they are looking at until they make the hire. Smart seems like the smart money though.

Yall were being mean, forcing Les to twist in the wind for over a week. UGA showed us all the humane way to do it, fast with no buildup.

To be fair I haven't seen a single fanbase in this year's coaching cycle even pretend that they could poach a top 5 coach from a program that he won a national title at. LSU this year and Texas two years ago were the only fanbases that I can remember ever convincing themselves it was possible (when it obviously isn't).
