He's very professional and reserved - like in a Mike Krzyzewski way - so I wouldn't expect any hint of dissatisfaction or disappointment from him. However, does anyone know if he was hoping for the interim HC title? It seems very unlikely that he would be considered over Orgeron (if we whiff on Herman and Fisher) for the permanent HC job at this point. Is that something Aranda aspires to? I see they granted him a new title - Associate (?) HC. Does anyone know the details?

Long term, I see Aranda as a very solid HC and he should be ready for that in a few years. If we can lock up Aranda long-term, and make him HC in waiting and we hire a good OC, that might actually be a really good strategy if we can't get Herman or Fisher. I'm not sure how I feel about Fisher without Aranda staying.

In the Aranda as HC-in-waiting scenario, who are good OCs we could hire? We pay our coordinators very well, surely we could pry away an elite OC away now that they know there will likely be less interference with Miles gone.

I don't think anyone knows his plans.

But I think it's fairly obvious that he took the LSU job to try and get himself to the forefront and make a play for a HC job. Some would consider Wisconsin to LSU a lateral move, or maybe a slight upgrade, but there is NO doubt that it is a higher profile job at LSU. More exposure.

I think that is the best thing working towards us keeping him. He needs a job of this profile to complete his goals.

His plan is to mow down opposing offenses. And I see him as a permanent DC. I think he likes defense too much to try to worry about running all the recruiting, the offense, hiring/firing of coaches. That being said, who knows?

I doubt even Aranda knows right now. Will depend on who we hire, I'd imagine.

I don't think it's that obvious.
We tripled his pay and gave him a bunch of 5 stars to use. That's alone is a super obvious reason to come.

I think Aranda could be the person who can get Herman here. TBH. frick Texas. Tired of hearing about that bullshite. Herman is a member of MENSA. These mfr's don't think like we do. I think if we go all in for him, He's ours. I think he'd like the opportunity to prove that he's the best coach in college football.
What better way to do this than to face Saban every year?

I just hope it doesn't go the other way around - that Herman takes Aranda wherever he goes (if it isn't LSU). Any school looking to pay Herman is also quite capable of paying his staff. I hope Aranda is wildly happy at LSU and his family loves BR and he stays.

you think a guy this good, this young, with an entire career ahead of him...... and you think he's at his ceiling...... as high as he wants to go, potentially?

not you, my man. No young stud coach wants to scrub another captain's boat. He wants to be captain of his own ship

Name one up and coming stud coaching prospect to decide coordinating was the better fit for them?!? These egomaniacs want the power and money that come with being the head coach

Pretty sure that whoever we hire will have a say on who the DC is.

WTF

Dude is on a very rapid ascent through the college football ranks. What makes you think he's not interested in being the boss?

Hell, I think he's one of the real potential HC hires for LSU that might work out.

So you think LSU is a school that should hire a HC that has never coached a game as HC? I sure don't

LSU is not significantly higher profile than Wisconsin.
What it did was boost his resume...effective DC at 2 schools. LSU probably paid him a lot more money too...and he doesn't have to work for Alvarez.
